LPN program in the Philippines for GreenCard holder

World International

Published

Hi,

I just want to ask if i take LPN in the Philippines can I be eligible to be licensed LPN here in the US?

Has anyone done this before?

I am a green card holder so I dont need sponsorship.

Please dont give advice to study LPN here in the US instead, that is not my question.

I prefer to study in the Philippines for financial and other reasons, as long as LPN is accredited for me to sit

for licensure exam here in the US.

Thanks,

I think a lot will depend on the state however there have been a few people that have done this with no issues, What you do need to think about is protecting your GC as you will be out of the US for the duration of the study (off top of my head I can't think what the term is but will try to find out)

Not all states will approved LPN programs in the U.S. If you do leave in states such as Florida, Texas or New Mexico, then you're lucky. Check with your states requirements! I just finished my clinicals in the Philippines and just got back. Now I am doing my nclex review and will take it on October.

hi zapman,

what school in PI did you take your LPN?

how long is LPN to finish in PI? i already have a bachelors degree in engineering in PI.

thanks,

Actually I started my associate degree in nursing in the U.S. then finished my LPN in the Philippines through Kennedy Global located in Makati. I will be taking my PN-NCLEX possible in Florida or Texas. You can call them or check their website for more info. Just some warning about clinicals experience because of the culture shock and all that. Lots of stuffs or equipments are kinda ancient and be prepared for serious hands on.

Thank goodness you can't get licensed in CA since you trained on old machines and took the cheaper way out.

@ westheimer1234 ,

first contact the state you want to be license as lpn and from that, you will be directed on where to start. i guess, your paper will be assess by the board on nnursing of states you want to be license. if your credential from the philippines is equivalent to thier standard, the bon has all the discretion if they will allow you to take the exam or not.

bottom line is, contact the required agency by your self. its easy now, send an email or phone them if you wish to and they will give you instructions on what to do.

for what i know, california allows lpn grad from the philippines, provided that they will produce all document that the bon requires.

here is the link. good luck! http://www.bvnpt.ca.gov/

hi zapman kabayan, i know its been 4 years since tgis thread is posted. im curious, have you taken your nclex-pn already? i assume yes. which state did you apply for? cuz ive been reading a lot thay its hard for them to take nclex pn due to not "not accredited" kennedy globay school of nursing. i hope you can give me infos on how was your process with nclex bcoz im planning to enroll in this school as well.

LPN is not recognized in the Philippines so you would have no local license from there and it would not be recognized in the US.. You would need to take the program in the US.

LPN programs at county schools are not that expensive. No U.S. State approves overseas programs. CA BVNPT states that will not accept graduates from distance or online programs. Most states and all of Canada will not accept graduates from programs that prepare for a license level that does not exist in the country of education (LPN does not exist in the Philippines). Many graduates of this school have posted significant issues with this program and subsequent attempts to become licensed in the U.S. if you search this forum.
