HI, IM NEW TO THIS SITE AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCES IN LPN-LVN-RN'S? AS FAR AS SCHOOLING , PAY RATE, AND BASICALLY WILL IT BE ALOT EASIER TO GO FOR LPN OR LVN? IVE BEEN READING ALL THESE THREADS AND THEY HAVE BEEN SOO HELPFUL! IM SO EXCITED TO HAVE FOUND THIS SITE! I FEEL LIJKE WE ALL WILL HAVE A BUILT-IN STUDY GROUP WHICH MAKES ME ALITTLE LESS NERVOUS!

lpns and lvns are at the same level of nursing. it is just that two states, california and texas, by state law call their practical nurses lvns (just to be different from the rest of the crowd, i guess :wink2:). however, they do the same job. lpns generally go to a school for 1 to 1 and 1/2 years, earn a certificate and then take the nclex-pn exam. if they pass the exam they become licensed as lpns (or lvns if you live in california or texas :wink2:). rns have a number of schooling choices. they can go to a hospital program, 2-year community college, vocational college or 4-year university degree program in rn nursing. they earn either a diploma, adn or bsn degree. then they take the nclex exam. if they pass the exam they become licensed as rns. pay rates vary depending on the needs for nurses of the geographical area where you live and the cost of living.
