LPN/LVN rate of pay in your area.

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

This topic has been around before, but I was looking for something more up to date. Things have fluctuated in past two years or so. I know people are always looking for salaries and most of the time its for RN's. I'll start ;-)

Around the Cincinnati area here I'm not sure about the starting pay or pay in hospitals for LPN's. But I know LTC facilities are about 16 to start ranging up to about 22. I've seen ad's in the paper saying $24 but I don't know what that was for. Agencys are about 21-25 dollars for LPN's also. I believe Jobs are plentiful around here! Also when I was up in columbus, I heard an instructor saying they are starting their LPN's out with $27-30 while the RN's get about $40-50 ..I don't really believe that, but I just tossed that out there maybe for some clarification?

I live in Massachusetts and currently make $23.00/hr working as a full time LPN on a short-term rehabilitation unit. I graduated from an LPN program in July of 2004.

I have seen LPN's working for agencies that make up to $30-32 dollars an hour.

Specializes in Registry, all over the place.
This message is for Kimmy the SVN. I am a new grad LVN in Southern California (Riverside County to be exact). I make 17.50 w/ benefits, every other weekend off. No shift differential. ONly one person out of my class makes more than me that I know of at 18.50/hr. I think whoever told you you'd be making that much lied. Maybe LA county pays close to that?

San Diego pays upwards of $20. I inquired at 4 hospitals and the average was $22.00, more in LTC facilities and agencies, I have yet to see the pay drop below $19.00. So it is possible, just have to be in a metropolis. I made sure, because there is no way I would be able to live while in RN school after graduating LVN if the pay was that low. I would have kept my desk job and been better off on a waiting list for RN.

I am a Urology nurse right outside Chicago, Il.. I make $`19/hour after 5 years...

Homehealth agency paid 19/hour (20 with vent cert and vent patients)

Agency at facilities paid 22-25/hr

as a clinical isntructor I make 28/hr part time(but I also have a BS/BA)

lecture pays me 26/hr

***Edit, I am also IV/Phelbotomy/Vent Certified and military trained and 8 years military experience as an LVN/14 total

My wife a BSN makes 23/hr plus shift dif and OT, so it works out closer to 30/hr

blue chip, I live in OK as well. I'm a nursing student. Our hospital starts LPN's out at 10.35. I'm working so hard in school, I'm not too happy about rate of salary. It's not much to look forward to. It seems to me if there was such a nursing shortage they would up the pay a little. I don't understand. The cost of living here is not really that much lower than other places.

That does seem like a REALLY low rate of pay. I remember reading that the RNs on OK make lousy money too. Your cost of living must be lower......What does a 3 bedroom houst cost? How much is it to rent a one bedroom apartment?

Here in CA, you need at least 300,000 for that 3 bedroom house, and 850 a month for the one bedroom apartment. (Much higher in L.A. or the SF Bay Area)

I moved here from Los Angeles County approx. 12 years ago. It's true, housing is much lower here. You can get a 3 bedroom for $100,000 in S.E. OK depending where you buy. That is a simple middle class neighborhood. Everything else is as high or higher. My food bill is more. My utilities are more. Even with the cost of housing so much lower, I still think 10.35 is too low.

Not to be TOO argumentative, but our utility bill here in CA (gas and electric) ranges from 150 to 300 a month.

But yes, I still think 10.35 is insulting!

When I left CA 12 years ago my utilities were not even close to that. Maybe rates have gone up. My utilities are close to $300.00 a month, but our weather is more severe. 19 deg. yesterday morning (shivering). We can make a little more in LTC, but I want to work at the hospital, so I'll live with it.

Hey Rebel Red....where in NJ are you? What County?

I live in Ohio and in the southern part we are lucky to get 14 an hour so I drive north 2 hours to get 22 then I drive home 2 hours so I drive 4 hours a day to get that:nurse:
