LPN/LVN rate of pay in your area.

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

This topic has been around before, but I was looking for something more up to date. Things have fluctuated in past two years or so. I know people are always looking for salaries and most of the time its for RN's. I'll start ;-)

Around the Cincinnati area here I'm not sure about the starting pay or pay in hospitals for LPN's. But I know LTC facilities are about 16 to start ranging up to about 22. I've seen ad's in the paper saying $24 but I don't know what that was for. Agencys are about 21-25 dollars for LPN's also. I believe Jobs are plentiful around here! Also when I was up in columbus, I heard an instructor saying they are starting their LPN's out with $27-30 while the RN's get about $40-50 ..I don't really believe that, but I just tossed that out there maybe for some clarification?

Hey there herrera2,

Does your friend work the weekend plan at a hospital or nursing home? Are they 2 16 hours shifts or 12's...my,my $32.00/hr is great money for and LVN!!

Hi there Hope1978: LVN'S/LPN'S here in Southern California can make 65K per year, working Mon-Fri, and the benefit package is extra. The field is Managed Care, working as a Case Manager doing Utilization Review/ Quality Management/Concurrent Review. One can work for a Hospital, SNF/LTC, MSO (Medical Service Organization), Insurance Companies (i.e. Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Healthnet, etc.) Just a little note...most employers require that you have at least 1 to 3 years of Case Management experience, and of course a clinical background. Fresh LVN/LPN graduates with no experience, will find this quite stressful and demanding. To include difficulty in being hired.

But, you have to start somewhere. This can be a rewarding and challenging profession. I have noticed in other states such as Florida, the majority of Case Manager jobs are mainly for RN'S. Making 30.00 to 35.00 per hour for a LVN/LPN is not too shabby! Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

I live in South Central Kentucky and work in LTC facility, the pay is 14.00 hr. for 3-11 and 11-7 shift. Not bad pay for a little town like this.

I'm in central Oklahoma. LPNs in hospitals make around $11.00 an hour, LTC is around 13 to $14 an hour, clinics are $10. RNs are around $14 in hospitals starting out, and $18 in LTC. Agency pays LPNs anywhere from $20 up to about $26.

Yeah, which hospital did you check with? Seton in Daly City pays some of the students who graduated from the program I am about to also graduated from 27 dollars per hour. That is the truth unless they have lied to us. In San Jose, some hospitals pay as much as 30. I am hoping for the best.

Good Luck.

Would like to know if anyone in California can tell me of a nice area to live thats affordable with good schools for the kids.

LVN's in Los Angeles in the westside/southbay/valley working LTC earn $18-$24/hour depending on experience. I have a friend who works in a Peds Subacute who started at $26/hr. Registries pay up to $28/hr. If you specialize into DSD or MDS in a LTC you can earn up to $30/hr. Clinics only pay $14-16/hr. Acute....I was offered a job at one of the local acute hospitals paying $14/hr with differential for 3-11 shift a year ago. Needless to say, I kept my current job.

i want to see if anyone from illinois knows what the rate of pay is for someone right out of school

I think taxminia0311 is a "want to be nurse with poor english", she sounds uneducated but claims to be going to like 4 different lpn programs. Best to ignore her and her posts.
Then you wonder why thiere is a shortage of nurses...Well I don't have to wonder anymore it nurse like you that makes it hard on people like me to not enter the nurses field.... with your rudness I feel you should take a atttude course and the same time why dont you take a pliteness course... perhaps it will make you not such a nasty person and maybe just maybe those course will make to be a nice person instead of a a selfish missarable person...and by the way it diffenetly was a pleasure meetting you as for english I sure can nottttttttttt use your nasty advise...

I'm new to posting here! I make $22.50 per diem in the greater phoenix area. I was a little shocked to hear of some lower salaries. My family will be relocationg to Ohio this year & I was expecting to make the same (if not a little more). Now I'm a little concerned!

I'm a 7/05 grad, make $14 at a big hospital (with great benefits: insurance, 401-K, tuition, lots of in-house education w/ $ for completion). I also make $16/hr working for an agency. I'm in W. Central FL.

I live in California now, and am not really sure what LPNs are making. I was surprised in reading my hometown newspaper, which is from a little town in western PA with very low housing costs, that the county owned LTC pays a starting rate of $23. I'm not sure that they start at any more than that here, where $23 an hour is barely enough to cover living expenses.

I'm from a little town in western pa and we certainly do not make $23 an hr. starting rate here for an LPN is $11-$14

I'm in Kentucky but soon to be moving near the killeen/fort hood area in Texas. Is there any LPNs in that area on here? If so, could you give me an idea on what the salary rates are? Thanks!

Yep. Those are Bay Area wages, since the cost of living is so high. Here in the Sacramento area, LVNs make $16-20 per hour, RNs $25-35.
