  1. Hi. I just wanted to tell you that from personal experience, I would definitely work as an LPN before going into the RN program. Even if it is for a short while, you will gain experience. I'm an LPN, I've done most of the pre-req's for RN program, and I feel like I'm more prepared for the RN program with my work experience. Maybe you would consider LTC, just to do a shift on the weekends to gain a little work experience (which looks good on your application to the RN program). Good luck!
  2. I work in a clinic, and I agree with some of the posters here that there is a time frame to go by. The patient is told if they do not hear from us in 3 days of results, to call us. As far as your +ANA, we generally refer those to rheumatologists for followup. As for all of the symptoms you went to the PCP with, did he not check a TSH? Alot of your symptoms sound common to hypothyroidism. I don't know about the rest of nurses, but I for one look out for myself. As in, if I'm sick I make sure the MD checks out what I think I have wrong with me (makes them not so happy that we self-diagnose, but its our life). I had an abnormal iron level, and I had to push and push them to do DNA testing to determine if I had hemochromatosis....guess what, I was right. So that's just a little incident to let everyone know that you have to look after yourself when something isn't right. To the OP, hope you get the care you need and get better.
  3. I plan on relocating to killeen area in the spring. I'm an lpn, have had almost all pre-req's (unsure of how they will transfer), and am wanting to find out about temple college's bridge program. Such things as how hard is it to get accepted; how long is the waiting list, etc. Any help is appreciated!
  4. I'm an LPN that is soon to be in this area (ft hood). Are there any nurses from that area that can give me a little insight as to the pay range, facilities to apply at? Also, has anyone done the LPN-RN bridge at Temple College? Thanks in advance!
  5. I'm in Kentucky but soon to be moving near the killeen/fort hood area in Texas. Is there any LPNs in that area on here? If so, could you give me an idea on what the salary rates are? Thanks!
  6. The whole time I was in nursing school (LPN), I absolutely hated the thought of LTC. Where did I begin my career?...yes, LTC. I done that for 7 years. Now I am at a primary care clinic and have been for over 4 years. Honestly, I feel more like I was helping someone when in LTC. Don't get me wrong, I feel I help patients in pc, but its not the same because no matter how much you teach the patient, it doesn't mean they will listen and get better. Good luck!
