Nursing classmate with add

Hey everybody

I'm almost done with my first semester in PN program and there are exams next week. Hopefully everything will go nice and smooth.

There is question I would like to ask. I have this friend I sometimes study for exams with. Indeed I found it helpful at some point. But she has ADD and I sometimes find it hard to communicate with her. Just let's look at how people interact having dialog etc , with her is "don't interrupt, I'm not finished", "I'm talking right now". Puts the hand in front of my face aka talk to the hand. I mean perhaps I'm overreacting but whenever I talk with other people the conversation is totally different. I'm sure it's not the matter of her being the age of my mom but add itself. How can I deal with this? Should I just walk away? I'm a very sensitive person. I admit that I'm very hyper and I do love to multitask.

I appreciate all of the insides,

Hey, I'm having the same problem. It was even to the point I was telling her, "hey, those problems are not gonna be on the exam, let's work on these." And she was so distracted that she kept going in reverse. I could've failed my pharm exam by helping her. I almost did, by .5 point. After I got some rest, I decided that it was not helping me to study with her as I was carrying most of the load. After our test, she said to me, "We should've studied more!!" Ya think? What I believe is that I'm better studying with someone asking me a question, answering, and then me asking them a question. Back and forth helps me remember.

While I still like this individual alot, I'm just gonna stay home and maybe skype with a guy in my class. He likes to study the way I do. Congrats on getting through first semester!:yeah:

Some people do not make good study buddies. I love working with a study group, but people also make me a little crazy when they want to study in ways that aren't helpful to me. I made the decision to put my foot down - nicely - and to lead my study groups in the direction that I wanted them to go in. I also limit the amount of time spend with study buddies to one or two 3 hour sessions per week.

Good luck!

Thank you!

She is pretty good when studying and agrees to what should by studying. I am not afraid of failing while studying with her. She always listen to my suggestions as of what to study. also helps.

Idk whenever I start asking additiTional question i.e we study anatomy and I start talking about clinical ( that exam would be on the same day) she says "one thing at the time"!!

I got used to it. But I feel I have to watch out what and when I talk.

is she on medication? I have ADD but would never put my hand up telling someone to stop talking. I sometimes accidentally will interupt someone else talking but i dunno i am also super clumsy socially.......not really able to give advise but wanted to say not all add people are like that. lol

I can't really comment on if that is related to her ADD but I wouldn't pay much mind to it and treat it like a personal quirk.
