I am a lifelong southern Californian who actually moved out of the state 2 years ago due to the stagnant LVN pay rates that don't seem to keep up with the cost of living.

The California Department of Corrections is always hiring LVNs, and the pay is very excellent, topping out at $6,100 monthly. If you're willing to commute to some isolated penitentiary town and deal with the element of danger at prisons, then this might be the job for you.

Robert, check out the HR websites for the UC med center near you(UCLA, right?). They hire LVN's. Nice salary, exellent bennies..
