I'm in Texas, where we must renew our licensure every two years. The renewal date usually corresponds to your birth month and year. I was born during an odd-numbered year (1981), so my renewal years are also going to be in odd-numbered years such as 2007, 2009, 2011, and so forth. I was born during the month of February, so my licensure renewal always occurs in February of an odd numbered year.
In my state, you must complete 20 contact hours worth of CEUs (continuing education units) before each renewal date. These CEUs can be done online. They can also be found in major nursing magazines, or at a local community college.
