Nurses LPN/LVN

I have worked for a PMR doctor for 9 months. It is not easy and I was not trained at all. Today we had a working interview with our office. After 10 minutes of listening to him bash the current staff to the new lpn, I had enough. He stated his staff was a bunch of morons. He was was acting was acting unprofessional. He informed me that my charting has been wrong for 9 months....Really...today..its an issue...I kindly told him to train the new LPN. I do all the notes, the scripts.

If that were me I would be at least looking for another job. Life is too short to spend it around ignorant people :)

Better that you start looking for a new job now, before he decides that the new LPN is your replacement. Two words left of center with some bosses gives them the idea to clean house, then you get caught by surprise when they wield the axe. Doesn't sound like it is worth the stomach upset.

Thanks for the response. The past 24 hrs has been a roller coaster. I was told this morning I was not perfect. I never thought i was....He has been in practice for 3 years and been through 8 people all that have been fired for various reasons. There is no structure in the office, no policy no procedures nothing. He is anal retentive on his charting and it has taken it s final toll on me. I have to get the full description on the pain the location of the body part, dermatomees, and if I get it wrong i get lectured for 25 minues. He does not understand patients will tell nurses one thing and the doctor another. We have gone head to head.We were going to do a procedure and asked if I had given Valium. No, the patient was alone and did not have a driver. I was ordered to give it to her, I refused. The doctor said well I am the patient 's advocate. I told him well so am I , and she has no drive and it is isa safety issue now. Still refused. HE gave it to her. I have started to update my resume I have had it. I can not eat, unable to sleep.

GET OUT ASAP, I worked in Dr.'s offices and they a NOT like that. Sounds like this schmuck will loose his license. You were right to refuse and make sure you document EVERYTHING to cover your behind.

I don't know what part of the country you live in but you can find other work as a nurse...good luck.

Specializes in Peds/outpatient FP,derm,allergy/private duty.

Sounds like a real loose cannon or possibly a personality disorder of some kind. I would seriously reconsider working for someone who would bash their current staff to a new person during their "working interview". Most likely it would be a waste of time to bend over backwards trying to please the guy - sounds like the type that is never pleased yet has no conception of the reality that his maladaptive behaviors are at the center of most of it, because those 8 nurses he fired - it's all their fault. :uhoh21:

i agree you should get out. many people are training their replacements and don't even know it.

about the valium...you have the right to refuse, but if it was just one valium before a procedure...it's not likely that the patient would be too sedated to drive by the time the procedure was completed and all.
