LPN Corrections nursing??

When I worked in a Fl corrections last year. I worked for PHS,I made around 20 an hour. I went out on extended sick leave, and PHS lost their contract, so then when I went to come back, there was no job for me! So instead of reappling with the new company, I just found another job. Not sure who took over the contract and what they paid.

Anyone here with experience in this. I am in the Tampa Bay area and beginning salary for LPN's in corrections is $24-27 / hr. Im not too sure what is involved and would love some info in anyone has knowledge.

Hey danish, How is Keiser going, how are the instructors? How do you like to school overal? and how is their attendance policy? as strict as Galen?

Are you attending a Keiser, is that why your asking? Do you personally know Danish? Curious bc I attending a Kesier myself... down in miami however... its alright over here.... every school has there ups and downs... mine had a lot or "downs" in the begining because we had a program director who EVERY STUDENT in the PROGRAM AGREED that she had NO HEART or NO CARE about who performs well in the program... EXTREMELLY unflexible, rude, purposelly give us "Test reviews" with stuff we should go over for test, and EVERY TIME, NOTHING would be on the test.... i know it sounds like im a student complaining because I didnt do my work, however it was EVERY SINGLE STUDENT who agreed, and likewise, she was basically "ran out" and resigned after there was NUMEROUS complaints DAILY with the dean, VP, etc about serious accusations of unfairness.... Would I recommend Keiser to anyone? Only to those who I know could make it on there own and don't need to be walked through school, because hell we were left on our own in the dark from day 1...

I loved, loved, loved jail nursing. And I am a thin, beautiful lady. I, as most other ppl working in that enviroment, did not dress down, re hair, makeup, perfume etc. You are who you are.

Yes pill lines are long.

But they are fun. No crushing pills, no applesauce, no pudding, no waiting 5 minutes for a patient to get them down, no peg tubes.

With time, your med pass will be faster paced, you will know the people.

As you get to know who takes what,

you will have there meds ready before they even walk up to you, mentally anyway.

A nurse never travel without an escort, unless you are trained to do so.

In most cases, a guard is with you (in the instance a code is called and you have to leave your med cart).

Try it, I loved it. It was the 2nd lowest stress job I ever had.

If there is even a hint of anything violent, on the floor to occur, you are the first one off the pod.

As for traveling from floor to floor, they have elevators.

It's fun, you pace yourself, no one standing over you rushing you.

What's more easier than passing pills (to ppl who can't wait to take them), then going home.

Take the job:balloons:, I sure would. And the pay is good.
