Hi everyone! I was just accepted to Loyola Chicago's ABSN program (hybrid cohort) for Spring 2020 and figured I would start a discussion as a place for classmates to start meeting (assuming we'll probably transition this to Facebook ha) Looking forward to January! ?
Sure! nursing school is going to be a challenge regardless of what nursing school you pick. There is no nursing school that is better than the other. What I can say about Loyola is that that do listen to student opinions and also want to make sure you succeed with no negativity behind it. I have been in nursing school before Loyola and I can honestly say that was something that differentiated them from the last school I attended. The last school I attended told students that they were not fit to be nurses and or should give up and find another career if you failed and or didn't do so well in a class which in my opinion is unacceptable. What I have experienced at Loyola is the total opposite they are inspiring and uplifting through the entire process. I remember in orientation they explained that they were not going to discuss the people that didn't do so well and or the people that did not continue with the program because they are here to make sure we succeed and not brag about how a lot of people will fail. The first nursing school I attended discussed how many people failed and how hard it was. They basically scared students into thinking if I fail I am nothing and not good enough. There are also many resources at Loyola such as Labs and or tutoring PRN. The other school I attended simply told me to read the book. Regardless of what school you decide to choose it will be a challenge mentally, physically and emotionally. Just remember that distractions kill dreams. I honestly believe in you all and know that you will all succeed regardless of the path and or how long it takes to get there. Let me know if you guys have any more questions! finals are this week so ill answer more like Friday ?

Thank you so much for sharing with us. I hope your finals went great. I have a few questions I hope you can answer.
1. What’s the passing grade (75%| 80%) and how are the exams? Do you need to master the NCLEX style questions for the exams or is it more reading/ppts/lectures you use? are the multiple choice, higher level questions?
2. How are your clinicals with Loyola? Do you feel like you are getting great hands on training? Good instructors? Good times, locations?
I know it’s a lot so anything will help.
thanks!

Could you speak a bit about how the program itself has been? Any big complaints? Thanks!
