Loyola New Orleans DNP Summer/Fall 2013

Published

Has anyone applied to or has already been granted admission to Loyola BSN-DNP starting this summer/fall?If you are waiting on acceptance how long have you been waiting? If you are already accepted how was the admission process? Getting nervous over here and just wanted to find some peers in the boat.

Hi!

I applied for the early admission deadline, November 15th, and was accepted on December 15th. The admission was very simple, but I am not sure if that is simply because I applied early. They contacted me pretty soon after I submitted my application and set up an interview time with me, which we did over Skype.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for the reply. I hope to hear from them soon to set up the interview since the deadline was almost 2weeks ago. If you don't mind me asking how was the interview? I believe I remember someone stating on one of the virtual open houses that they accept about 40 students and in January they had offered admission to 28 people but they say that usually not everyone accepts. I pray this means there is room for me:nailbiting:!

Are you from LA? Do you know anyone else in the program?

Sorry for so many questions...I am excited and nervous all wrapped in one!

I will post when I hear something!

My interview went great! They set you up with a faculty member of the nursing school, and you and that faculty member set up an interview time. Mine had to change a lot because of my ever-changing schedule at work, and she was really easy to work with. It's a Skype interview and it lasted about 20 minutes (and I'm a talker). Yea I was surprised I was accepted because of applying early.. I'm not really sure how that works. No, I am from Tennessee, and unfortunately I don't know anyone currently in the program.

Let me know!

There are a few of us on here that are in the first cohort of BSN to DNP students. It is difficult but manageable. Good luck we are supposed to your group in Jan when we go back.

Hey sorry what was your last sentence supposed to say?

Sorry, we are supposed to see your group when we return on campus in January. The worst part is finding preceptors. As soon as you find out when you will begin clinicals start looking.

Ok Layna22. Glad that your interview wasn't that bad. How long did it take after your interview to find out if you were accepted?

Mom to 4 thank you for the heads up on the preceptor situation. You said that the program is managable. Are you working as well as going to school? At the current moment I have the ability to just focus on school instead of balancing work and school together which is why I want to do this now.

I have just recently moved to LA so I know no one in this state. This scares me since I know we are supposed to find our own clinical sites/preceptors. I can not let it bother me too bad yet since I have not granted admission yet. I applied just before the deadline on the 15th and i am waiting to hear about the next steps (i am assuming this is the interview portion...i dont know if they interview everyone or just the canidates they are interested in). It has only been about 2wks since the application deadline and the suspense is killing me. I have been checking my email every hour and the mailbox twice a day hoping for something...I know its sad but I can not help myself.

I just got an email to schedule for interview with a faculty. I don't know if this actually is the last and final step to determine whether you will be accepted. Lets me know if it changes with you.

Hi Born_2BRN

I just asked you on another post if you had applied to loyola. I received the email today as well. I am super excited!! One step closer...have you already set your interview time. I have not but then again I just emailed them my Skype username a few minutes ago. Let me know if you hear anything.

The interview is the last step. Many people in my cohort are working full time. I am prn but they suggest that students not work at all during the program.

What type of questions will they be asking you? I want to be well prepared when time comes. Also after interview how long will they let you know you are accepted? Will it be via mail or email? I understand interview over the phone and Skype are acceptable in this day and age but this will be my first one. I am quite nervous.
