  1. Hi all! Our hospital has recently opened the fourth Pediatric Neuro-ICU in the country. I was wondering two things: Do any of you work in a Pediatric Neuro-ICU? and I am trying to come up with a topic/idea/project for our floor (it is something the RNs have to do to gain points for evaluations) focusing on either staff education, self-education or patient policy change. Have any of you had a project or idea on your neuro floor that you think would be pertinent to peds as well? Any suggestions would be fabulous! Thanks!
  2. Hi all! I have read other threads about insurance, but mainly for current practicing RNs and NPs. Can anyone recommend cheap/affordable malpractice insurance for nurse practitioner students? Thanks!
  3. Hey I just requested to join it, who is the admin that has to allow me?
  4. Also, how are y'all going about paying for school? Loans.. etc?
  5. Congrats to everyone who got in! I am from Memphis, but very lucky that my best friend lives in New Orleans so I will be driving to Loyola each morning. I am anxious for them to go ahead and send more information about the week. I never got this video that you all are talking about, I would love to see it, my e-mail is [email protected].
  6. Deidre, I am not finding you on Facebook.
  7. I am Layna Hyde Michalik, y'all add me.
  8. Hey Katie, it won't let me send you another message for some reason, are you Facebook?
  9. I am anxious to get the information about school itself. I am so in the dark about all of this it's driving me crazy. Hopefully when all of the "regular admission" as opposed to "early admission" students get accepted then they will send information out about what to do next.
  10. I haven't started, but I'm assuming you can spread it out as long as its completed in 5 years, but I may be wrong. Probably the classes will have to be taken as listed, but the practicums will be when you can schedule them yourselves. I plan on working FT, I work night shift on a Pediatric Neuro ICU. But we will see how it goes, but I guarantee I will keep working FT in some way another, whether switching back to my normal floor with is a Pediatric Neuro unit (not ICU) but step-down, switching to days, or moving to weekends or something. But... Time will tell. I have applied for a bunch of scholarships ... Can't find grants, so some suggestions would be great. Soooo, I guess loans are what it will be.
  11. If you send me your email address I will forward you all the information that I know (which is not much). Orientation is May 6-9th.
  12. Yea, I think we start towards the end of May. I think it took about a week to let me know what faculty member I would be interviewing with, and then that faculty member contacted me and set up an interview time. If you haven't already, set up a Skype account and get that going. So you can have it as soon as you need to.
  13. Hey y'all, sorry I haven't responded. Congrats on all your interviews! I just looked in order to give y'all a frame of reference, and my interview was November 17th, and I was accepted on December 7th. I may have been shorter if not for Thanksgiving (but who knows). I sent my $500 deposit back January 5th, and it still hasn't been deposited, I'm not sure why though. Maybe they are waiting on the remainder of the applicants who are accepted.
  14. Hey sorry what was your last sentence supposed to say?
  15. My interview went great! They set you up with a faculty member of the nursing school, and you and that faculty member set up an interview time. Mine had to change a lot because of my ever-changing schedule at work, and she was really easy to work with. It's a Skype interview and it lasted about 20 minutes (and I'm a talker). Yea I was surprised I was accepted because of applying early.. I'm not really sure how that works. No, I am from Tennessee, and unfortunately I don't know anyone currently in the program. Let me know!
