Loyola ABSN Fall 2020 Hybrid Program

Published

Hi everyone,

I thought I would get a thread started for the Fall 2020 Hybrid Program. I just got my letter of admission into the program! I am quite excited and nervous because this will be my first time doing online classes for a whole program! If you got admitted to the ABSN Fall 2020 program, don't be afraid to hop on this thread and introduce yourself!

Hope to hear from y'all!

@haynurse12 I only toured the DG facility because that is the one I got accepted to. After the tour, I will not be attending the program. The weather, cross country move, cost, and having to drive all around the Chicago area for clinicals, among other reasons is why I chose not to pursue Loyola at the DG campus. The total cost including housing, tuition, relocation, etc. alone would have cost me over well over $70k and I feel like I could get more for my money in California. Perhaps my decision would have been different if I applied to the Maywood campus, but I do not think that the DG option is worth all the money and stress of moving.

Also, I spoke with other students who were currently in the DG program and they had a role in my decision as well. Due to the program being so new, two students told me that it is not very organized as they are still working out some things. It can be difficult to get in touch with online professors. Also, I didn't like the idea of driving 1-2 hours to clinicals in dangerous weather.

@scv181012 If you don't mind me asking, where are you looking at going to school in California?

@haynurse12 I have applied to CSU Sacramento, CSU East Bay, and CSU Northridge (ABSN). I should be hearing back by the end of November so my fingers are crossed.

I was unable to find the Facebook page- not sure if you can send people invitations individually or how private pages work!

Does anyone know if Pathophysiology, Ethics, or Pharmacology might transfer or do they have to be nursing specific/taken at Loyola? I'm considering taking them at my CC before class starts to lower costs/lower my load during the academic year.

Ask the admission advisors, most of nursing school don't transfer upper level nursing classes.

You are correct, they won't transfer! I'm going to take a couple of those classes ahead of time just to ease some of the burden/get prepped. How do you all like the program? Any advice?
