LOW gpa and getting into USF

Published

Hello everyone. I will be applying to USF for the fall 2016 term. Im currently working towards my A.A and will have over 60 credits when I transfer, USF has always been my number one choice and I do not see myself applying any where else. I have a gpa of a 2.6 but am hoping to bring it up to atleast a 2.8. USF is highly competitive and i wanted to know what my chnaces were of getting in. Will they atomically deny me admissions because of my GPA?? because there minimum GPA requirement is a 3.2

I don't know what USF is, but if their minimum GPA is 3.2, your 2.6 will not be accepted.

A minimum is the minimum to apply. Many times, if competitive, you will be competing with 4.0s. 2.6 and 2.8 will not make you eligible to apply, and you will not be nearly competitive. Sorry, but good luck in your endeavors

If you're referring to university of s florida...they are extremely competitive..the 1st time my friend applied with a 3.8, she didn't get in. They take into account your cum gpa AND put a lot of weight into the essay they have you write. Most, if not all, respectable nursing programs are competitive though. However, some schools (like comm college ASN programs), look only at your gpa for nursing prereqs, not the other classes. That can help boost your gpa. But with a lower gpa, I'd suggest applying everywhere in the area..not just USF.

The people who can answer that question are not the people wiling their time away on the internet, they are the ones who answer the phones in the admissions office. How have they responded to that question?

If their GPA requirement has a floor of 3.2 then you have the answer to your question. Your GPA is well below their cut-off so, unless they provide some caveats (for example, GPA over the last 20 units or something) then you are not a viable candidate for their program.

Call them and ask them. Their statements are the only ones that count.
