I have been looking on the internet and scrub uniform books to see if I could order one, and haven't been ablr to find anything. Does anyone know a phone # or a http://www.... That I could go to , to get me another hat?
Thanks for the help

I thank all the forces of good that exist that men never had to wear those hideous things. Those ugly hats need to go into a bottomless hole with the all white uniforms.
I know that some of y'all love that stuff. Personally, I can't stand them and I'm glad we've grown past them. Viva la difference! No wait, that's french. To each their own! Yeah, I like that better. Best yet "Infinate Diversity in Infinate Combinations"

Hope you find your cap, or find one that you love! I also think highly of the nursing caps, and wish more nurses would wear theirs.
As a patient, I'm tired of not being able to tell the diffrence's between the dietary workers, house-keeping, cna's, ex-ray techs , blood techs & the nurses & doctors. Usually you have to squint up close to see their name badges. It's confusing to many of patients!

LOL ... you guys have to check out the "travel trunk" site! You can buy a nurses hat, a maid hat or even a waitress hat all at the same convenient location. Kind of offers some perspective on where the whole hat thing originated. (Nurse = Dr.'s maid) Not to mention the pictures! UGHHH!
( I am not cracking on you, Mint Julip ... I just found the site amusing!)
My nursing hat has sentimental meaning to me as well ... but I like it as a memoir in a case ... not on my head. It more or less serves as a reminder of all the hard work and humiliation I suffered during nursing school. We looked like fruit bats parading around in those "Mary Poppins" dresses and marshmellow hats! Thank goodness the college I graduated from finally evolved to having pant uniforms and students are no longer required to wear hats in clinicals. Unfortunately it happened to late to change my perspective on "the hat". Even if it became main stream where I work to wear them ... I still wouldn't!
Ofcourse those of you who enjoy wearing "the hat" are entitled to do so and I am by no means suggesting that you shouldn't - just over look me when I chuckle as you walk by.

Oh dear honey, I guess you would laugh at me, and I'd probably laugh right along with you! Each to his own said the old lady who kissed the cow!
In my day, the cap was something that you worked hard for and were proud of. It was an image of professionalism, and to me it still is. When the cap started to go out of fashion in the early 1980s , I tried to stop wearing mine and wore scrubs to work for a few months. I just never feet right about it. I didn't feel that it looked for felt professional enough. I guess I'm just old school. So, I wear my cap, pin and starched whites whenever I work. Yes, some of the younger gals get a kick out of it at first, but very few think its silly for me to wear it when I tell them how hard I worked for it and what it means to me and nurses of my generation.

Even though I am only in my 1st semester in LPN school, I am praying that I graduate. But, I am wanting to know if I can wear & thin, black stripe after graduation.
I am aware that each nursing school has their own cap style, but I did not know if an LPN/LVN can wear the strip. Also, I understand that the RN's can wear a "thick" black stripe (if you went to a 3 yr. school).
So, will I err if I wear a thin stripe?
just dreaming

That sucks about not being able to tell who's who! But the problem with those hats is they are DANGEROUS. We have them for sentimental and picture reasons from school, but nothing else. Think about it, going in to assess a confused patient, leaning over the bed, he wacks your hat, you fall back, land in the land of iv tubings everywhere, get tangled in your hat, have to scream for help, AND then you have a bad hair day! lol
I do think that nurses should wear their badges more definitively. So people can tell. And nobody can convince me that housekeeping and dietary needs to wear scrubs. Gets on my last nerve.........
