Just curious and hoping anyone can answer. Are they really picky about transfer credits? I know some schools are just silly about what they take and what they don't. How about them?

yes, they are. I do not go there but my cousin does. They don't like accepting transfer credits because they don't make as much off of you. She already had her fine arts requirement but they made something up so she would also have to take another fine arts class with them. Also, they made her take an additional 3 credits in English, keep in mind she already had 101 and 102. I think she decided to take African American Literature.

William Carey is a great school. I attended William Carey and I thought it was awesome because of the 10 week trimester system opposed to the semesters.

As far as acceptance into the nursing program... They review three things: 1) GPA 2) HESI Score 3) Courses taken at William Carey. They do look at courses taken at William Carey and it is a factor with acceptance when you are transferring in from someplace else. They are not likely to accept someone who completed all prerequesites at a junior college before someone who took them at Carey. They look at the fact that your degree will be from William Carey University and this is why transfer stipulations have been placed where you have to complete so many hours at a certain university to graduate from there. Otherwise, I could go to a junior college for 3.5 years following a Harvard curricullum and take the last semester at Harvard just to say I graduated from Harvard.

So how competitive in WC. I am starting over there in the Fall transferring from DCC. I have been told most of my courses are transfering. I have B's and a few A's and two C's so far. Im wondering what the GPA is like of those students they accept into the nursing program. I am going to try to apply for the spring trimester.

hey msrn2000,

if you dont mind me asking, what was your gpa, how many credits did you transfer to wc, and was it really competitive to get into?

i'm at william carey and will finish the nursing program in feb 08. i took the most of my classes at DCC because of the price difference. I think that's what most people do they accepted all my transfer classes. They take new nursing classes for spring and fall I think about 70-80 people usually apply and they usually take about 30 give or take a few. They look only at your gpa for the classes for the nursing curriculum my was a 3.7 not sure about others.
