Hello all, is anybody applying to Los Medanos CC for fall 2011. I just sent in my application with my fingers crossed:up:
Hi all. I was googling to see if anyone was talking about the RN bundle and I found this site. Congrats to everyone on getting in. I have ordered all my books except the bundle online. They were much cheaper. I really want to get the bundle at the bookstore for the PAGEBURST but if its gonna be 700-900 that's ridiculous. I've already priced all of those books for under 400 with shipping.
Yes I paid about $420 for all the books in the bundle. These bookstores are committing highway robbery for the prices they charge for these textbooks. Last year, I bought a developmental psych book online for $35 and in the bookstore at my school (CSUEB) the same book was over $100....and it was an old edition:eek: Yes I refuse to pay $700 to $900 bucks for the same books I can get for hundreds of dollars cheaper.
My only concern with ordering online is how much are we gonna wish we had the PAGEBURST. I don't know if you saw but included in the bundle is PAGEBURST which allows us to download the books to our computer. Our books will become searchable. This could save us hours of time looking up stuff. Not to mention all of our books will be in one place which means they can easily come with us. I just wish I could talk to someone who has used it and could tell me if I would need it or not. The other thing I am considering is purchasing the electronic from the bookstore and then ordering the books online. Until they have the price at the bookstore I don't know if this will save that much money though.

I am with you on this one. I really want the PAGEBURST, but if we could buy the electronic version ONLY, I would not mind getting all the others in the bundle elsewhere. They will probably charge a fortune just for the electronic verson! Let me know if you find out anything. I called this morning and they claim the books will be in next week..
I went and it was not really organized. If you wanted to try them on, they had a storage closet you could use. The scrubs are not as bad as I expected. If you buy the ladies scrub pants, they have a little flair to them, the unisex do not. The tops do seem to run big. The wine color is pretty nice.
Patches are 5.00 each and if you wear a scrub jacket, must be on those as well.
They state they orders will be in around 2-3 weeks. Pants are Dickies and Tops are Cherokee Work Wear.
See you Saturday!
I went in today also for the scrubs. I wonder if I had passed by you today and not even know it. You are right it was really was disorganized, I agree. I had to try on my scrubs in some kind of break room kitchen. That was really weird. Anyways I did notice the flair on the pants, I did not know the unisex ones did not and I would prefer those instead. That sucks because I even ordered 2 sets. How many sets did you purchase?
I'm really excited to meet you all on Saturday too.
Last Thursday-July 21, 2011-I received a voice message from LMC about the RN program for Fall 2011, and now I am totally confused and anxious regarding this matter.
I did not get picked in the lottery last June 6, but as it turns out, according to the voice message that I just received, they are "moving down" on their list and there's a high chance that I will be selected. Now, they want me to come in on Monday. They also asked me if I have taken the TEAS already. I took the TEAS 4.0 at CSUEB for their 2011 Nursing Program (though I did not get admitted into the program =s). I cannot remember which version of TEAS is required for LMC's Fall 2011 RN program, but I am hoping TEAS 4.0 is acceptable. This entire situation that I am in is just nerve-wrecking. I feel like there are a lot of things that I need to rush now based from what I have read in this thread. Is anyone else in the same situation???
Chainer- Congratulations! The TEAS is version 4.0 that they have been using this year. If your not sure, call the nursing office and speak with Cynthia. She is great and has all the answers. It is exciting, and lots to do before the 12th! Good Luck
BCT1- I was there about 11:45 to 12:30 I saw about 10 people while waiting to try on (in the storage room) and pay. I was wearing black pants with a black and white blouse (pokka dots)-
Hope to see you Saturday!

I went ahead and purchased 3 sets with 2 jackets. I get cold easy and she stated we would not be allowed to wear white shirts under the scrub tops. Hmmmm, I kinda doubt what that women said, as in the past, they have allowed white long sleeved shirts under the scrubs. Oh well. I bet if you called them, you could change to the unisex without the flair.
Actually getting a little nervous, it is getting close. IT will be nice to meet all of you who have been posting, sort of feels like we know each other already... just need to put the "post" to the face..:)
Hope we can get some pictures on Saturday to upload to the Los Medanos RN Class of 2013 on Facebook!

Congrats!! You should be good to go if you took TEAS 4.0:yeah: Are you currently a student at CSUEB? Last year my friend was notified 2 weeks before school started and she had not taken the TEAS:eek: So you are ahead of the game!
I am getting nervous myself because we are getting close but I have to ignore that fear until I get home from vacation:lol2:

Yes, I am currently registered as a Health Science major in CSUEB, but it will only be my first quarter there when classes start on September.
Wow, your friend got notified 2 weeks before the program started?? Ever since I got the voice message, I have been worried about whether or not I can complete all the additional requirements such as the drug screening, CPR, and Criminal Background check, etc. How long did it take for you guys to complete these additional requirements? I do not even have the admission packet yet, so I am quite lost on what to do >_<.>
