Los Medanos for Fall 2011?

Published

Hello all, is anybody applying to Los Medanos CC for fall 2011. I just sent in my application with my fingers crossed:up:

LMC contacted me around 8 in the morning today and instructed me to send my TEAS 4.0 score to the Nursing Department. What should I do next? Do I just wait for them to give me further instructions? This wait is killing me @_@. I do not remember seeing my ID number on the alternate list when the lottery results came out, so I am probably just an alternative for an alternative. Starting to get pessimistic... >_

Oh, does anyone have a copy of the lottery results? I know it's been a while, but I just want to see the list again to see if I missed my number on the alternate list >.>.

Chainer- I would suggest you HAND CARRY the results to the nursing department. This way, she can give you the packet on the spot (hopefully) and you can start working on all the stuff you need. Lots to do- Physical exam, immunizations and titers, TB- 2 step process or Chest Xray- Background check & drug screen (can be done pretty quickly) 3 modules to complete online, order your scrubs, and register! If you go in, [---- (the nursing dept secretary) is GREAT and a wealth of knowledge. It is my understanding they have gone beyond the original alternate list. There is a link to the list if you go back to some of our older posting- check around page 20 or so.

Good luck:up:

The person from LMC admissions instructed me to send the TEAS transcript electronically. Also, ATItesting only had the electronic transcript option for LMC. On the original voice message that I got, admissions only told me that there's a chance for me to get in the RN program as they move down their list. I would not want to walk in there with a hard copy of my TEAS result, expecting to get an admission packet right away when my admission to the program is not 100% sure yet xD. Fortunately, because I am classified as an International Student, I had already done the 2-step TB test and my immunizations.

Ah, would you mind showing me the link for the lottery result? I ran through the thread, but I can't seem to find the link >_

Chainer...the list is not on the thread. One of the other students emailed the list. Sorry...I do not have it any longer or I would email it too you. Good luck!

2 more weeks, everybody! :D:uhoh3:

I just signed up for a one-day cupcake decorating class to have fun before school starts! I am very excited! I love that show Cupcake Wars, though I am a terrible baker...LOL

Just spoke with the LMC Bookstore. If anyone is getting the book bundle through them, they are in. They will run $ 759.00 plus tax! Ouch....

Only the nursing students are allowed to purchase fall semester books before Friday. Lucky us. Going today after work.

Picked up my book bundle last night at LMC.... OUCH OUCH OUCH!!!! $ 813.93 which includes the electronic version. Here is the kicker......they come in 1 big box. If you open the box, they are NON-RETURNABLE.... You guys sure saved a bundle by purchasing them individually elsewhere. If I did not want the e-version, I would have gone that route. Still in sticker shock.

Also stopped by the Scrubs store and picked up my uniforms.

Hard to believe only 10 days away.

Is it possible to purchase the e-version separately without the whole bundle?

For the mask fitting next week Tuesday, I am scheduled at 2pm. Does everyone here have it at at the same time?

I can't believe the first day of Nursing school is starting so soon. I'm feeling a little nervous now.

Hi BCT1---

I believe each person has an individual appointment. Mine is at 10:30AM and I know another individual is at 2:30.

I am not sure about purchasing just the e-version. If they did, I would have preferred that and bought the rest of the books elsewhere. What a rip-off! But, I guess this is how they make money off us..

Excited and nervous at the same time! :yeah:

Dont forget to check out the site I started on Facebook- "Los Medanos RN Class of 2013"

Hoping to get more of our class on it.

Hi Chainer,

I have the pictures of the lottery listing if you would like for me to forward that to you.

In case the uniform shop did not give the information for the soaking of the patches- This prevents any bleeding of the color onto the whites of your uniform. Also, doing this with your dark pants, she claims, prevents fading. With the white scrub tops, it keeps the white really white....so she says.

Here is the info she gave me---I wrote it down to make sure

For your patches: Soak them in 1/2 cup WHITE Vinegar with 1/2 cup COLD WATER for 2 hours. After 2 hours, rinse copiously with clear COLD water and allow to completely AIR DRY.

For your Scrubs: She stated for the DARK PANTS and WHITES:

Dark Pants: 1 cup of WHITE VINEGAR - Wash pants alone on a complete wash cycle in COLD WATER only and with the Vinegar only. NO Detergent. Fabric Softner is OK.

Same for the White tops-

Dry using your dryer - Permanent Press Cycle

I used the hot setting in hopes to try and shrink mine a little. Their M is really big!
