I just found out tonight I'm starting this August!! I swear it feels like a dream; I never thought I would get in. There are about 500 names for 44 spots and it's done by lottery. This is my first time applying and I GOT IN!! I've never won anything in my life and this totally makes up for it~lol.

brittany~i haven't bought my scrubs yet, but my friend did at the meet & greet and i think she said it was $65 for the 2 sets with patches and a scrub jacket. that was with a 10% discount, so it'll be a little more, but not bad. do you have a stethoscope? you will need one of those; i got the littmann classic ii se. a pen light and bandage scissors comes with the kit, although i know you will go through a ton during school. luckily, they're super cheap ;) hmmm, what else. oh, a watch with a second hand. i think you'll need both the watch and stethoscope pretty much right away; i know that one of the first things we learn are how to take vitals (along with hand washing and bed baths!).

monique~sorry to hear you were sick! i'm using my friend's book, but i have always gotten my text books from abebooks.com for a good price. oh, and such a small world! there is a new girl at my work named donna~she says she knows you and works for your mom :)

i'm just so anxious for school to start and get the *first day* over with. i just can't wait for the feeling of walking on campus as a nursing student!! i just keep reminding myself every day how very, very lucky i am to have this opportunity and i plan on working my butt off!! anyone else as terrified of failing as i am? lol i have always been a good student, but my biggest fear is having made it this far, just to screw it up :( i know i'll feel better once i start, but that fear is right there along with my excitement!!

Hey Kristin,

Thanks I'm feeling tons better now!! Yes I've known Donna since high school. I did have micro with her at DVC also. She's been working at my mom's work for awhile now. She is a sweetheart, tell her I said hi!! I am also terrified of failing. I have waited it seems like so long to get into the program & my whole future is riding on it, it is a lot of pressure. I'm sure we will be fine. Like you said you have always been a good student, I have also, so if we just put in the effort it will be fine. I think we're just scared of the unknown. I can't wait for the first day to get all of our "final" information. I'm thinking I might just buy the book bundle from LMC if we need our books right away but hopefully I can find them or order them online. Your so lucky to have a friend that just went through the program!! It seems you know a lot of people who got in!! See ya soon.

Hey I was wondering, has anyone bought their book bundle yet?? I'm debating on buying the books now or waiting until after the first day & seeing if I can find them cheaper online. What is everyone else doing??

I know Shayna (the girl that sat with us at Skips) ordered her books from B&N and Amazon. She just ordered them based on the pics from that paper, so I hope they were all correct and not just a generic picture. I wonder if we NEED the books by the first day or if they will go over what is required vs. what is recommended that day and still give us time to get them.

Countdown is on!!

Hi Ladies!!!

OMG! Next Friday we will officially be nursing students! Yikes! =) I didn't have my computer for a while because I was getting it repaired... been MIA.

Monique- Sorry you were sick, but glad you are better now especially since we are starting classes so soon. =) I did not by the book bundle either. I purchased my books on amazon, and some on ebay. I went by the tiny photos on the paper they gave us. I have no idea if we need them for the first day of class or what we will be doing.

Brittany- I think you asked about scrubs, right? Well, 2 tops and pants were about 65...not too bad. I also need to buy a watch with a second hand.

Hmmm..what else? Oh, I received my parking permit in the mail the other day and got all excited! LOL! I don't like that we have to adhere it to the windshield, but i will just have to deal with it.

Can't wait to see you all soon! Just want to enjoy the last days before the roller coaster ride begins!

The class is going well, we just started our second semester. I can't speak for anyone else, but it is definitely more intense at times than I ever expected! The teachers are great and we have a pretty awesome class :) I'm curious about how you already know you're starting in August??
