Hello, I turned in my application back in February and waiting for news. I'm creating this topic for anyone that has applied to LAPC for this upcoming Fall 19. Let's share stats, tips, news and any other useful information for our fellow applicants.

Does anyone know if nurses (bsn/msn) should know billing codes? I know nurses/drs can bill for diff things and before/after makes a diff depending on insurance plans.
I just want to be as well rounded as possible to hopefully score a student nursing gig. I’d like to specialize and earn an MSN as well. Maybe a dr in nursing to become a nurse anesthetist. I’m in my mid 30s so I suppose I don’t have much time to acrue and pay off debt so we’ll see.
I'm a recent nursing grad so let me answer some of your questions. You don't start doing IV sticks at Pierce until your 2nd semester so your phlebotomy background will help you with 2nd semester clinicals and beyond. Learning ECGs is not necessary until 4th semester when you learn all about the strips. ACLS is complete overkill so you don't need that certification at all unless you are going into critical care post-nursing school.
As far as your post-ADN studies go, I wouldn't focus too much on MSN yet until you finish your ADN first. Pierce is a very tough program so take it one semester at a time and graduate first. For example, there were 8 students out of 40 who did not make it through first semester so focus on completing ADN first.
As far as anesthetist training goes, you don't need to obtain a Doctorate in Nursing as you mentioned. The training is to finish ADN first, then spend first 1-2 years of working in ICU as a RN nurse, then complete 3-years as CRNA nurse, so it's a long-drawn process to become a CRNA.
Best of luck to you.
I didn’t get anything, what does the email say?
I feel like pierce is so disorganized, like they only sent acceptance emails at first and it is now that they’re sending denials and waitlist emails?? Which to me It didn’t even make sense. Like what if someone decided not to attend another school who do you give the spot to? At least know where each students stand it is that simple!!!

That’s great!!! When is their orientation? And have you been admitted to another school?

They said I was #1. I'm also asking around because I want to know how many people are being invited as a "standby". I have friends waiting on results from Pierce as well and I want to be able to understand what's up with the system. I hope everything works out for everyone.
But hey, I hope you and I can get in this semester! We have a pretty good chance, considering what they've said in the emails and what people have posted about on the topic in previous forums I've looked through. I just don't like the fact that we have to wait for too long.
