Los Angeles Pierce College ADN - Fall 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello, I turned in my application back in February and waiting for news. I'm creating this topic for anyone that has applied to LAPC for this upcoming Fall 19. Let's share stats, tips, news and any other useful information for our fellow applicants.

Have you received the TEAS invite?

We have been chatting in the "LACC, LAHC, Pierce, etc." combo thread, but it's probably a good idea to have one thread for Pierce alone!

I applied, received the TEAS invite and sent in my scores because I already took the TEAS. Now all that's left is waiting for the lottery.

Good luck everyone!

What is the turn around time to receive your TEAS score if you took the handwritten version at Pierce? I sent mine electronically to Pierce when the email was sent out, but was just curious how long it’s going to take them to go through all the apps who are taking the handwritten TEAS now. The waiting is killing me.

To be honest I have no idea. I did mine electronically and shared my results through the ATI website. Hang in there! We should know soon. Good luck!

Is anyone here planning on getting any certifications before nursing school? I’m a phlebotomist, but was also thinking I’d certify for ecg/ekg or pharmacy tech to familiarize with other parts of the field that are relevant. Maybe an ACLS cert as well.

Does anyone know if nurses (bsn/msn) should know billing codes? I know nurses/drs can bill for diff things and before/after makes a diff depending on insurance plans.

I just want to be as well rounded as possible to hopefully score a student nursing gig. I’d like to specialize and earn an MSN as well. Maybe a dr in nursing to become a nurse anesthetist. I’m in my mid 30s so I suppose I don’t have much time to acrue and pay off debt so we’ll see.

This wait is killing me. I applied to several schools.

i got the email said my app is completed and no further action required. How about you guys? The waiting time is killing me now.

What did everyone get on their TEAS? I took mine months back and got a 79% ...feeling a bit defeated.

good luck to everyone!

I got 82% on my first try. I did study for about 4 weeks with the ATI book and the app.

I hear you! the wait is insane... I've resorted to do other things to keep my self busy so I don't go crazy.

I don't plan to get any certifications yet. In my understanding, ACLS is done at the beginning of your program so all the cohort has the same expiration and allocate time during the semester.

As far as the billing codes... I'm sure you'll learn to use them once you are hired. I was a volunteer at a hospital a few years ago and they have their own software with their procedures as far as charting and billing.
