Los Angeles County School of Nursing and Allied Health - Fall 2019

Published

Hi there,

Has anyone applied to LAC School of Nursing for Fall 2019? I thought I would get this post going so we can stay informed and help each other through this waiting process! What are your points that you calculated?

Hi! I applied to the program as well. I think my total points are 81 to 82 depending on which humanity they chose. Hopefully I get in. ?

Harder than most? Last time I checked, nursing school is tough in general. I wonder how someone is able to make this statement? ?

Haha exactly what I said. ?

Did your sister in-law enjoy the classroom portion of the program? Any other insights? How many days a week classroom vs clinicals?

My sister in-law brags about the entire program. I will be seeing her over the weekend and plan on asking her a ton of questions. Will post on here any insight she may have.

No I don’t work for the county. It’s possible I miscalculated my points. I hope your friend gets her email!

Yes! Please share any info!

I'm excited to hear back. I have also heard great things about the clinical experience. I'm sad that this is the last school that I will hear back from. I just got accepted into Moorpark ADN program yesterday. I am super excited, but I feel pretty good about getting accepted into County as well. I'm not sure which one would be a better fit for me. Has anyone heard anything about Moorpark?

Yes, a lot of people brag about this program. A lot of the girls I work with although they are happy for me for getting in, admitted they’re a bit jealous. Apparently the county students are the rockstars of the nursing school world. I didn’t know. I just wanna be an rn!

I’ve never heard of moorpark. I know! Choosing is hard. I think I’ll be accepted to citrus too for their bridge program (which is where I did my lvn) so I’m a bit torn. I love citrus and it’s close and convenient but from what I’ve heard if u get into county take it because there is nothing else like it

Honestly, I work as a director for a nurse a case management company, so I hear stories from dozens of RN's. Everyone will have pro's and cons about each nursing program. However, ultimately our goal is to achieve the same result-that RN license. My understanding from relatives/friends and co workers that have attended the LA County nursing program, is that LA County nursing students, in comparison to other nursing students completing clinicals at the same time at the same facility are doing more advanced hands on training and in general much more during clinicals. I've heard nurses say that the lecture exams and studying are much more intense than other programs, but again, I do not know what they have to compare it to. I strongly believe that it is up to each individual. Congrats on getting into Moorpark, it's such a great feeling to be officially in a program and perhaps still have options. As for me, I am waiting for a response from COC to make a decision. My decision though will be solely based on commute (easier for me to travel to/ from COC and that "clinical experience at County." ?

I just logged into the county website and actually, if you go to current students, you can access nearly everything for the current student. I saw the schedule for 3rd and 4th semester and it seems to be Monday through Thursday from 7am to 4 or 5:30pm. Clinicals are T/TH.

County is my first choice. Moorpark is definitely closer for me and I've already been accepted, but I can't neglect what county has to offer. I live in the valley, so that drive is going to be little rough, but I think well worth it. I guess only time will tell...
