Any one here graduates of the program? Or are in the program?
i am still waiting for my letter too. i have 83 (85 with bonus points), i wish mine would come soon....
It should come any minute now. 80 is definitely the cut off, so with 83, you should be in, no problem. I found out the reason they had me down with only 77 points: It's because neither of the two sociology classes I took are equivalent to sociology 1 (101). I first took sociology in 1994, and I just assumed it was the correct class. I'm so irritated at myself for not double-checking. While both soc 4 and 103 meet the graduation requirements, they do not fulfill County's requirement. So without sociology, they are right, I only have 77. So I'm taking speech in the winter, sociology in the Spring, and will reapply in March. Good luck to you!! Let us know when you hear something!

Yes I'll let you know if I hear something. Also, you should try to boost you points up. I believe the points are always higher for the fall class. Definitely try to apply more schools next time. I got accepted to LA Southwest.
Say bye bye to your sleep, your hobbies, your friends, your life... everything you do and talk about will be nursing. You're going on a two year tour so get ready for war. It will be a constant uphill battle with contradictory test questions, no realistic way of studying, unreasonable amount of content, and never ending wave of handouts and papers. You can't rely too heavily on any one friend because odds are, less than 35% of you will make it through to the fourth semester from your original class. Fail any two classes and your out of the program. Straight A's in pre-reqs equate to straight C's in nursing, that's if you manage to crank out 60 hours a week studying. You hear about the "great clinical experience" but all it means is that you're doing three times the work of another nursing student at a private hospital to get the same license. If you don't speak Spanish, good luck because 99% of your patients will speak Spanish only. If you work, you'll be forced to cut back hours, and for every one super human that can "do it all" there's 50 students that can't. Clinicals will haunt your dreams and you are expected to excel at every health care related discipline at the same time. You have to become the Physician and know what they're thinking, you have to become the Pharmacist and see how meds affect each others and the patient, you have to become the Social Worker and identify sociocultural issues impairing health, you have to be the receptionist, the caretaker, the counselor, the teacher, the psychiatrist, the maid, the server, and not become clinically insane while juggling your day job, spouse, kids, finances, tests, quizzes, clinical worksheets, care plans, case studies, and canceling family events for the sake of passing. There are people who graduated though, so it's not impossible, but certainly extremely difficult.
Sincerely,
3rd Semester Student

I have A,A,B, and I have heard of others who were accepted with all B's... so don't give up hope. This is also my first semester applying, and I wasn't lucky enough to get chosen in Glendale's lottery. County is it for me too, unless I don't get in, and then I will obviously be applying to as many schools as I can. Good luck to you... I will let you know if I hear anything.
