Looking for a state to call home

Published

I am a nurse in Florida. I used to love nursing but with my present work I am starting to hate it. I am looking for a new place to start a life, a place where I can raise my kids.

My present job have very low salary and the patient nurse ratio is unsafe. The community we live in doesn't have a friendly atmosphere.

Please any suggestion for a better place to raise a young family? Where nurses have better job and respected? Good school? Friendly and safe community? And affordable? Hope I'm not asking much...

I am considering Washington state, Texas, Oregon. But you might have a better idea or suggestions.

Thank you everyone.

DFW is nice and there are definitely opportunities here for experienced nurses (new grads not so much). Most of the suburbs have excellent school systems and the wages to cost of living here are mostly reasonable.

Thanks..I will do a research in this area.

Texas has a low cost of living, and if you have experience has a good nursing market according to posters here. Downside is that summers in TX can be BRUTAL. I lived in Corpus Christi for a while and temperatures started hitting triple digits in May and didn't stop until September. You learn not to go outdoors from 0900-1600.

I lived in Laramie Wyoming for a long time. Loved it. Mountains,,,low taxes..and open space.
