Looking into RN programs at Wcjc sugarland, any info?

U.S.A. Texas

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum so please forgive me if I have put this in the wrong forum.

I already have a B.A. in Corporate Communication from the University of Houston but am looking to transition into nursing.

I am looking into the Second degree BSN at Uhv but am not sure I will make it as it seems very competitive. I plan on taking my sciences again as it has been WAYYYY to long for me.

My question is have any of you gone through the adn program at wharton county junior college in sugarland? I am thinking about doing this program, then possibly going to finish my BSN.

I cannot seem to get any advisor on the phone or email to answer any of my questions. I know that you must take the ACT regardless of educational level, but that is pretty ,much all that I have found.

Does anyone know where their clinicals are held? What they are like? Any advice that may be helpfuil?

Thank you all for your time!!!!:redbeathe

I am currently in the 2nd degree BSN program at UHV. It's a one year program for those who have a degree already. Its tough but a good program! If you want to talk to an advisor, Kaci Pullin is the one to go to. There is an info session in Aug. You should attend!

WCJC-Sugarland deadline for Spring 2012 was July 20th. I applied to the program and we're supposed to be hearing back from them end of Aug or 1st week of Sept.

Thnx for getting back to me ladies! @hnphan, I looked into that program but I didn't not meet the minimum gpa, I missed by 2 pts :( I was really interested in that one & Kaci was very helpful with information.

@ Chunkey Munkey- I'm actually retaking my sciences since they are over 5 years old but am planning to apply to Wharton in sl. Was it hard to get in? If u don't mind me asking, what did u get on your ACT & what was ur science gpa? I'm so nervous about retaking the ACT, I have pretty much forgotten all the math. I'm really trying not to stress, but it's hard.

I applied to WCJC(among others) as one of my backup schools if I don't get into UTHouston or TWU. I took the ACT last minute and I studied for the math portion more than I did any other section. I haven't recieved an acceptance/denial letter from WCJC as of today. I was told by WCJC that I'll be hearing something at the end of Aug or beginning of Sept, which isn't that far away. I scored a 26 Composite on the ACT and my science GPA is a 4.0. @carrie380 Goodluck on your Fall semester

Great ACT score & gpa! I'm terrified of standardized tests. I've been out of college for 10 years now & remember nothing. Math was never my thang anyway. Good luck in school & please keep us posted :)

Same here. I've been out for a looooooong time and this time around I'm much more serious about studying.

I applied to the wcjc sl program. Have you heard from them yet? I am getting so nervous. I have a BSc in bio and had to retake all the pre req because it was " too old" lol. I only applied to WCJC because i didn't want to go anywhere else. :(

I haven't heard anything from them at all. I applied way back in early July. I was told we're suppose to get acceptance/denial letters by the end of Aug to early Sept. Keep us posted if anyone has received acceptance from WCJC-Sugarland.

if anyone else has applied to WCJC... please post here!... I too applied in july... i wonder why they are taking so long! Did you find out about yr other schools?

I haven't found out about other schools either. WCJC is one of my alternate schools in case my primary choices don't come through. Can't be to sure about things especially with the calibur of applicants, its become so competitive that I have to be sure I keep my options open.
