Looking for RN position in Boston area

Published

Hello everyone! I am currently planning to move to Boston early next year (I am aiming for around February or March) to begin my nursing graduate program next fall at Boston College. I decided to move to Boston a couple months early to settle in and get use to the new area and the new job.

I am currently looking for any RN positions that anyone knows of at their workplaces or anywhere in the Boston area. I currently work on a general surgery floor (although we do get plenty of medical; so technically I would consider it med/surg) and have been working here since January as a new nurse. So, I will have a year of floor experience (I know a year isn't much but it is better than nothing!). However, I am looking to try a different unit...perhaps ED or along the lines of surgery (because I do enjoy working with surgical patients)...I would prefer to stay away from medical.

If anyone can help me out in any way I would greatly appreciate it! I am looking for a full-time position or to be more specific 32 to 40 hours a week. I will be a part-time student starting next fall. Any suggestion or advice would be great too! Thanks!

See response to Kelly "New grads moving to Boston" dated Oct. 1.

Taking a leave from graduate school is out of the question. I will try whatever it takes to get a job in Boston asap. I'm even going to a nursing job fair this month in Boston. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Most the employers attending the job fairs are not offering jobs, they committed to the fair long before job situation turn sour. Also have one years experience, you have to have worked one year - 365 days, not 11months and 2 days you get the point.

I would ask Boston College if they could assist you in finding a position. Be flexible in your job search.

Specializes in Med/Surg/Onc, LTAC.

Take a look at all the area hospitals, there isn't a lot out there for jobs... I'm trying to find a new job as well! Start applying... there are a lot of LTAC's too, craigs list for private duty or agency could work too. At least it's almost winter, if you picked up agency work you will have more options. St Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton is very close to BC.

I currently live in orlando, FL and planning to move to Boston for school next spring and for the school I need a job. Moreover, I have no actual knowledge about boston area. So do you think it'll be a better choice to get a job through agencies?

The use of nursing agencies in most hospitals are down to zero. Best to find a job directly, but they are hard to find and you need to be very flexible.
