Hello --
Not sure if anyone can help with this, but I'll give it a go anyway.
I'm graduating next year from nursing school, and I'll have a bachelor's degree in Psychology as well as Nursing. I have lived abroad and love it, so I'd be thrilled to nurse in England for a few years. Does anyone know if the license will transfer over or would I need to re-certify? Also, I'd be happier knowing I had a job waiting for me before I moved...is anyone aware of an agency that helps with international nurse recruitment, or should I just move there and wing it? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!
Thank you
Allison (South Dakota, USA)
Hi! I've read this thread and I'm getting more worried by the second. I just hope somebody could help me in giving insights about my current situation. It would really be helpful.
I'm half- Filipina and half-British so I carry both citizenships. I decided to go back to school to study Nursing here in the Philippines. But when I checked the NMC requirement, I still need a year experience where I trained to be registered. But my family is deciding to move back to the UK. Is there any chance I could practice my profession in the UK without my 1-year experience here? ... or could I enroll in a short course related to nursing in the UK so I could get registered with NMC? What course and where would you suggest...
Another is, if I do take the longer path, and wait for a year here in the Philippines before I register... do I still need an IELTS exam even if I am a British citizen since birth?
Thanks. I'm really hoping to get answers. :)

I would suggest you contact the NMC and ask them these questions directly because we do have newly qualified nurses that register in the UK and they may let you meet requirements. Same in regards to English exam

Also with our "new" government they are looking to make huge cuts in public spending. So in the NHS we are really going to have to fight to recruit into existing positions.
