Hi everyone! I am looking for suggestions/recommendations for a pocket-sized lab reference guide. I am looking for something that lists lab tests, normal values, critical values, and what may cause the labs to be out of the normal ranges. I KNOW these things exist, but I cannot find one! Maybe I am not good at coming up with search terms, but at B&N and Amazon I keep getting textbooks, drug books, or nursing books. I really just want something I can put in my pocket and use to look up lab studies (blood, urine etc.)

Any suggestions?

Well, I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for but it may cover it. It's put out by the AACN (American Association for Critical Care Nurses). Go to www.aacn.org, click on marketplace and then type in pocket reference cards. AACN has quite a few of them, so you'll need to scroll through them (you may actually find something else you'd want as well) but it's there. Non-member cost is only $4.00. Hope that helps.

Borders Book stores or Barnes and Noble carry pocket sized lab reference books.

I bought a pocket size book for clinicals, and it is loaded with more than just labs, not sure if you were looking for strictly labs, but it is called "RNotes".

You can get pocket size cards are Barnes & Noble, or if you have an ID badge with room on the back you can make your own... In my unit we use a lot of drips and special lines/machines and sometimes it is hard to remember all of the titration amounts and normal values for specialty things, so we made our own little "cheat sheet" and attached it to the back of our badges.
