Hey everyone, I have an undergraduate degree with a cumulative gpa of 3.68, a prerequisite cumulative gpa of 3.35, and a prerequisite only (sciences) gpa of 3.75. I work as an EMT in a busy 911 system here in Los Angeles, and have volunteered with a local hospital for quite sometime.
I'm competitive, but not competitive enough for most Cal state and UC schools. I'm willing to move just about anywhere, and am curious if anyone could suggest any good BSN programs, public or private, that I can look into.
Thanks

Have you applied for the CSUs/UCs? What was your TEAS score?
I have not applied to any schools yet, and I would prefer to apply to programs that don't require the TEAS. It can be discouraging wanting to apply to nursing programs here in California. I recently went to an open house at Cal State Northridge, and they discouraged anyone without a 4.0 from applying.

I'm from the East Coast and there are a lot of good programs here, such as Johns Hopkins University, University of Pennsylvania, UNC Chapel Hill, and University of Maryland in Baltimore. More schools that are equally as good but more out west are Oregan Health and Science University, University of Washington, University of Colorado (Denver) and Arizona State University. I do not know which schoos require the TEAs out of the ones I've listed, but I know that CA is very competitive like you said, so maybe applying to many schools all over the map could be most beneficial. Your GPA, particularly the science GPA is very good and the fact that you have health care experience is beneficial. Good luck!!
Thank you very much, this is exactly what I needed.
