Looking for Oil Rig Companies that Hire Nurses

Oil companies retain nurses on their off shore rigs, in the Gulf of Mexico for example. I'm trying to find the companies which hire such nurses and what the qualifications are. Can you provide some guidance?

Thanks for your very unique question! Off shore oil rig nursing- now there's an adventure for you!

You will need ED experience, and you must be able to work autonomously.

Typically there is no doctor on an offshore rig, so you will be making medical decisions.

An oil rig nurse will be on call at all times, even after your shift is over.

I would talk with my nursing insurance company before accepting such a position, and make sure you have adequate insurance coverage.

I do not think there are that many oil rig nursing jobs at the present time, especially in light of the steep downfall in oil prices and resultant mass layoffs of oil workers.

Many oil rigs use Paramedics as their medical folks.... Paramedics can work on protocols using a land based MD as "command".... they also work "cheaper"....

Oil companies is the Middle East (Saudia Arabia, UAE) hire nurses for various specialities. The jobs are in hospitals owned by the company and usually year along contract.
