I have been looking online for nursing jobs and all of them state that you need at least one year experience... are there any jobs that don't require one year experience? or am I just not finding them? ... How are you suppose to start your career?

Many Hospitals have New Grad RN programs which will give you a mentor. As of late, there have been more grads than spaces so they are pretty competitive. Call HR at each hospital and ask if they have these programs and how you should apply. My mother was a new grad last year and applied to all of them with no luck so finally she just went through the phone book and started sending in resumes. She lucked out and got a pretty sweet gig with a family practice- and as a new grad that is hard to get.

Try try and try again - it all works out in the end

Good Luck!

all businesses want experienced help when they can get them. When we need more help than what is currently on the market we accept and even court newbies. However, we are currently not hiring due to low census and low reimbursement (average reimbursement is 29 cents on the dollar). When business picks up things may change.

Also, think about relocating! Texas is currently wide open to new grads!

Thank you for this post, an important concern.

I advise you to apply out of state. I went from not getting calls back to receiving at least one call a day from a different out of state hospital.

Thaniks for your advice. I like Texas, but I am just curious if there are any other regions of the country that are also relatively better for employment for new grads? Thanks for any other advice in advance.
