  1. Does anyone know if lacking a high school transcript will delay admission? Under records, my high school and the year I graduated is listed, but my GPA is not. Also, under the blue bar (screening for admission) a No appears for high school transcript. The transcripts for my bachelors degree in another academic area is listed in my records, so I thought the high school section could just be assumed. When I reconsidered, I emailed my health science adviser, but she has not replied yet. I can get my transcript from the archives of my local school board (it is too old for my school to still have it) but the last time I did this it took about 3 weeks. Everything else under admissions is fine, so it would be unfortunate to be delayed. Thanks, Mari 55
  2. Just to let everyone know, some of the online bookstores are offering the study manual for the same price as the test manufacturer, but with free shipping that the manufacturer does not offer. I believe same with the CDS that offer practice tests.
  3. Thanks. I did not apply this year, but I want to decide between applying for the accelerated and the generic programs. Do you, or does anyone else, know a recent graduate of either program, so that I might get their impressions? THANKS IN ADVANCE TO You or anyone. Mari
  4. Did you get your letters yet for the accelerated program at Miami Dade?
  5. The plan is to raise taxes not to preRegean levels, but to the levels that Regan established.
  6. I agree. I think the opportunities are exciting for individuals who would seek greater education anyway. I also think that if the health care reform bill is to work over the long term, the input of physicians, NP's, and RN's will be absolutely necessary. I believe this new law will awaken greater interest in the relationship between professional ethics and overall cost containment.
  7. They said this about Medicare and the New Deal. Lyndon Johnson was the ultra liberal who forced Medicare through congress. The Supreme Court struck down several parts of the New Deal before public perceptions of these social welfare programs changed.
  8. Some people are just optimistic because they live in blue states. My experience is that those who are from Red states tend to view it differently. Just one person's opinion.
  9. I think the bill will open up hiring for nurses around 2013-2014. I think nurse practitioners will be in greater demand to replace primary care physician positions that cannot be filled, at lower cost. I think there will be a greater demand for pediatric nursing services. Some nursing positions may be negatively impacted, but I think it will be possible to improve one's salary through greater education. Of course, none of us has a crystal ball.
  10. how much do you really know about this bill?
  11. You are certainly allowed to have an opinion. I merely suggest that rather than compare the new law to health care in one country, it would be more relevant to do a cross cultural study with more than one country, as health care practices can differ across cultures.
