The Dansko shap provides good support, BUT it's expensive as heck and there's no heel cushion.
I have Quarks Pro Air in black. They were $45, have great ventilation, and they stay on my feet with no problem. I did, however, put a pair of Dr. Scholl's Massaging Gel heel cushions under the Quark's insole because lately i've been assigned to those 6 and 7 hour cases, and noticed my heels hurt. But the gel heel pads fixed that.
The only problem with the Quarks is that they aren't leather.
And i'm always open to more suggestions on comfortable OR shoes.
I HAVE been looking at Plogs, but the only CHEAP pair i can find are WHITE.

Do a Google search for Plogs. I found allheart.com. They had easyplogs in different colors.:)
I'm in love with my shoes.
I've done:
Dansko Professional Clogs (HEAVY, not enough padding, I trip over them.)
Sneakers- I get New Balance or Reebok- neither last very long but are both OK.
Merrills- I think I would absolutely love these shoes but they don't come in wide widths. At all. I have a pair of men's and wear them out to the mall but they are not comfortable enough for a 12+ hour shift.
Etc, etc, etc.
I now have a pair of Klogz. You can get them at several websites- I also found them at my local uniform store. Some styles come in widths- the one I like doesn't so I went up a size and it worked fine. They come in lots of colors, are very light weight, and are very cushiony. They are easy-clean polyurethane, not leather, but I am VERY happy. I'm heavy and on my feet ALL day and my feet and knees are the happiest they've been in a long long time.
I ordered them from allheart.com but cancelled it when they decided they didn't have to ship orders for weeks and weeks....
I am looking to get new shoes..does anyone have suggestions for me?I'm looking for leather, something with great support that comes in colors other than white, is lightweight, not hard to care for and is reasonably priced. I've had Birki clogs(I felt like I was wearing clown shoes and my toes would bunch to keep them from falling off). Now I have Merell shoes but the support has worn off and I don't want to pay that much again for shoes I'll change after 6-12 mos. I'm open to almost any style of shoe.
I think you need 2 pair of shoes so you can change off and on....I hve berkie's and love them they are very expensive.....I also have a pair of nurse mates style "angel"(of course)....I love them they fit they are ever so comfortable and not as heavy as the berkies....I don't have as many aches and pains now.......the nurse mates were about $45 the berkies were $105....
it is worth the money to me we spend too much time standing and hustling Try the nurse mates I got them from Zappos free shipping I really love them they are light weight and so very comfortable

Hello: I found this website while looking for comfortable shoes. I have tried Dansko, Birkenstocks, Nikes, Asics, New Balance, Kloggs, you name it, and nothing feels good after 12 hrs in the OR. Maybe having two pairs is a good idea. I wear orthotics too. I saw in this forum about mBT Masai Barefoot shoes. Has anyone tried these? I have wide feet. I don't care what I have to pay for shoes if they will get me through my shift. There is nothing worse than sore, tired feet!!! Thanks, Becky

Hi, Im new. LA here.
ANyway, I really like the Dansko brand but theyre very exoensive so Ive been looking at them on EBAY. They have them brand new in the box and theyre usually usually about a third to helf off of what they are in the store. I bought a pair today in fact. They feel great and I can slip them on and off, no ties! ( I hate totie shoes and I like to be able to slip them off when I want)
ps> nice to meet you
