Looking to interview a community mental health nurse

Published

Hello and thank you for reading this post.

My name is Katherine and I am a nursing student.

I have an assignment to interview a public or community health nurse. I will be going into psychiatric/mental health for my specialty so for this assignment I would like to interview a community mental health nurse.

I believe the interview would take approximately 30 minutes and it can be done through email or through this site. I will have as much information as possible needed to help answer the questions.

Thank you for your consideration.

Specializes in Psychiatry, Forensics, Addictions.

Hello, I would be able to help. PM me.

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

She can't. The OP has not been active enough to gain access to the PM system.

Specializes in LTC, assisted living, med-surg, psych.

A better idea would be to interview a nurse in your own community. After all, we are anonymous members of a nursing website who may or may not even be nurses (although I'm sure the vast majority of us are). These assignments are usually given to get students out into the nursing world and interact with nurses in real time. Best of luck to you.

This is good advice. Ask your lecturers if they know any community mental health nurses you could interview. Nursing lecturers, in my experience, are nurses themselves and often have a wide range of contacts. You could say you attempted to find a MH nurse online but was advised to interview someone in person. I'm sure they'd agree.

Best of luck to you and I hope you find your new career as a Mental Health Nurse very rewarding. If you have any questions about psych nursing, we are here to give advice and/or share personal experience. :)
