i am about to enroll in the LPN program @ RSHT in richmond Va has anyone attended that school or knows someone who has. any info would be helpful

I attended. They are just.... :bugeyes:UGH! Look at the passing rate. Save yourself a headache and find another school. They only care about getting your money. I left and went to J. Sargeant Reynolds. MUCH BETTER! Good luck...

I just graduated from RSHT on 02/11/10. Every school has its ups and downs but it depends on you as the student to make the best of it. I have no complaints about anything. God has blessed me to even complete such a program.

Does anyone know what the day schedule is like for the LPN program at RSHT? What are the days and hours you attend and how long is the day program? Also is the LPN program offered at the Chester campus?

I would not recommend anyone attend RSHT for the LPN course or any other course they offer. Grant it, some of the teachers are absolutely fantastic, but there are some that look like they need to be in a retirement community, old school and are not up to date on the most recent technology. Their lab consist of 4 dummy's, you are using worn out equipment, and they keep the lab locked.

You do get in what you put in out of anything, but this place is a joke, save the aggravation and go to a college that is going to be up to date on technology and has instructors that are proud of what they do. The school needs to use more descretion as to who they allow in there, they really are just in it for the money and you dont get what you pay for.

Hi all, I have read all posts. I am a graduate from JSRCC RN program. It was a great program for me. Others thought it could have been better. I put my all in the program and got more than my money worth out of it. You have to do your research on any school you are planning on attending.

I have spoken with a clinical instructor who works at RSHT who is a colleague of mind at another PN program that we both are clinical instructors at. She states the program are having problems with keeping staff. Without staff you are unable to teach students. I believe until you get the staff stable, accepting student should be put on hold.

There are several PN schools that are in competition in the Richmond area such as RSHT, MCI, Fortis, and Centura College. All these schools comes to my place of work to do clinicals. I am most impressed by Centura College. The reasons are they look professional at all times, ready to work, and willing to learn. I thought they were a RN students.

Fortis College is pretty new and they have PN and RN program. The rest have been out there for awhile. Centura College used to be named Beta Tech. My advice to do research of the programs. Attend open houses, talk to school representatives, and school program coordinator. Of all the programs I spoke about and if I had to do it all over again I would know which school I will attend. I work at one of these programs as a clinical instructor. I am planning on attending Walden University in January 2011 for my MSN in education. I completed my research to attend this school and guess what it took me almost a year to decide. I just earned my BSN this pass December. If I have to pay my money, I want the best for me not no one else. Good luck to all.

You know while you shouldn't take just one opinion on RSHT, I can tell you that I have many regrets from attending that school. And the same advice Im about to give you, someone else gave to me prior to enrolling and if I could turn back the hands of time, I would never have attended. Granted there are many excellent teachers there. You really will not get $19,000 worth of education. We never drew blood/phlebotomy, we were constantly leaving our clinicals early, and the clinicals you did get were basically CNA training. You cannot transfer any of your credits, the Dean is a joke. Really, she puts on a good front, but dont take smiles as smiles from that school. They have a low pass rate, and WILL sue you for money owed if you decide against finishing your education there. Do I recommend RSHT ? HELL NO !!! Dont be in a rush to pay all that money just to get very little education, be unable to transfer credit, possibly fail the NCLEX, and have to take **** from the staff. There is so much that I can say about this school...but thinking about it cant fix the past problems. I can only hope to save another. check out Ventura, MCI, Bon Secour, the community colleges......and if you have to wait to start ....honestly it is cheaper and wiser for you to do so. HELL NO to RSHT...lowest on the toting pole

I attend rsht. I passed my boards on the first try. I think it is all about how much you are willing to teach yourself as well. No it is the best school but it gave me what I needed. on the floor is where you truly learn the most. I am now working as an lpn and I am also attending community college working on my RN.

I am a current student at RSHT and I really like the program. The staff is nice and the teachers are great. There has been some negative comments made about RSHT recently on the news but I can assure you that their practices are the same as every other school. I visited all the schools in this area and I liked this school the best. Their program offers all the same courses as every other school, internships and externships (for most programs). They help you find a job, they will assist you with almost anything you need. The teachers have the knowledge and experience to ensure you will have the appropriate knowledge. They are dedicated and really care about their staff. This school will ensure you have the knowledge needed to be successful in your career. Its up to the individual to decide in which direction they will go with that knowledge.

I regret that you had a bad experience but do you realize that the state boards are just that. The classes that are taught are the same you will learn at every other school. They are the exact same books, the exact same lessons. Even at all the other schools you would have paid just about the same thing, except at at a community college. A community college is cheaper but it takes you 3 times as long to finish the course. I pray you have a good job and the knowledge you obtained was good. That is the whole point behind the schooling, Obtaining the knowledge and they give it to you. If there was something missed then I, as a current student, ask about it. Im paying for it then I want it. And as for leaving clinicals early...yes it happens..people leave early, but I don't. School is until 1pm and thats what time I stay until or even later, if I feel i need extra help. Plus you cant blame the school for the way a student acted. Im sure they were embarrased as well. Yet i respect your opinion, everyone has their own experience.

I attend rsht and I am doing very well. My charge nurse and a few other staff nurses have attended also and are doing fine. I find it so funny that majority of the people who bad mouth the school have never attended it. They are relying solely. On heresay I am so sick of people bashing my school and there are many great teachers there 3 who were offered jobs at reynolds john tyler etc and who turned it down because they felt they should stay at rsht and defend the name against people who have so many negative things 2 say about it. I graduate in june and I will update and become 1 of the success stories and advocates 4 the school. People only air the negatives not the successes from the school
