Hello all,
I'm taking this chance to meet other nurses in PA. Who knows, maybe I've meant some of you. I graduated a year ago, and meant a lot of other nursing students in clinicals, and such.
Anyway, if you're interested in joining this discussion to meet others in PA who are recent grads., leave some comments.
Anyway, I'm wondering what kinds of hours everyone else is working, where people are working, what kinds of skills you're all learning, and your current job satisfaction, etc. Right now, I work quite a number of hours in a cardiovascular surgical unit. It's pretty good experience. Sometimes I find I get taken advantage of to work a lot of hours, but most times I don't mind, cuz I get a lot of good experience. I may move on to CRNA school someday. Any body else have grad. school aspriations?
Anyway, if you're a recent grad. or from PA, join the discussion, and let people know what's out there for new grads.
Thanks,

Hi,
My name is Susan and I work in the Harrisburg, PA area. Any RN's or LPN's out their that used or are using one of the LPN to RN Programs? I only need Micro and A&P to qualify for the second year RN program at the local Community. The problem is the year of clinical, I need to work...any suggestions?
thanks...Susan
Do you live in Erie? That's the only place I could think of that would have lots of snow. Not a recent grad but work in a rural community ER in North Central PA. Truly has a touch of" family" with staff, MDs and administration. Complete with all the squabbles that go along with an "extended family" but all in all a great place to work. This is home to the "Pennsylvania Grand Canyon".Anyone for hiking, canoeing, fishing or camping? [or lots of snow at the present ; it'll probably be around till May! sigh!! ]
I did a lot of my clinical work there, but never was employed there. Unfortunately, I became disabled after I got my license, but am a very frequent flyer patient there. Unfortunately, I have been a patient in every part of that hospital except L&D. I'm too old for that. So, after that, I wrote a book that's now being used as a resource of empowerment at our local womens shelter. I could tell you a lot about the staff and the ins and outs of that place, but not as an employee.
I have 18 years in EMS as an EMT and have worked in LTC in the past, but if I was able to choose, I definitely would pick L&D first, and then the ER only because I love the fast pace of ER nursing. It always gave me a high when I was an EMT.
A great big hello to everyone!! I found this site after searching for info on the LPN to RN options out there. Does anyone else have experience w/ that? Is it better to do an 'in-house' program like at a community college or the on-line route? Any input is appreciated!! Oh, by the way, anyone else in the Gettysburg area?

Hello there. I am relocating to Bethlehem Allentown area by the end of this year. As of now, I am not sure what hospital I would eventually work at but I have researched a couple of hospitals online. However, i think my best bet is to talk to a nurse that lives or work in this area. I would really appreciate any information from any RN from this area.
