  1. Hey there! I'm another naija from Ogun State trying to get into a CRNA school. Actually i have applied to few schools and im just waiting to hear from them.
  2. Hi guys. Is it really important to shadow a CRNA before interview? I have an interview coming up and i haven't shadowed any. Can i take the chance of attending the interview without shadowing? Im confused pls.
  3. CNA/PCA; flexible schedule, gain experience while getting paid.
  4. Commit to the fact that you want to get in. Do what you can in your best ability. Study hard for the GRE and take it. Let the admission committee see the willingness in you that you really desire to be a CRNA.
  5. Just be yourself and put together something professional and fashionable as well. Remember, your physical outlook is part of the impression you are presenting. As you know, this may sometimes last longer.
  6. Sometimes you really have to check the schools' application info to see what they require in their essay.
  7. GRE isnt bad at all depending on what score you are shooting for. The math (quantitative) is quite easier compared to the verbal section.
  8. The benefits are not bad at all. I'm not sure if you know that they have the 1199 union which is one of the best around. My Nurse Manager and my other coworkers are very supportive and we all get along well. GSH is not a teaching hospital. This is why i mentioned it might be different from what you are used to in the city. When will you put in an application? I will be happy to put in a word for you.
  9. Good Samaritan Hospital may be an ideal place for you to work if you are moving to Nanuet since we don't have a lot of choices up here compared to New York City. I think the other place that you might want to consider is Nyack hospital. Honestly, based on what I learnt, there is no much difference between these two hospitals. In terms of salary, Goodsam pays a little more; they start with roughly $32/hr including shift differential and experience pay. They also offer a $3000 sign on bonus. I've been working at Goodsam since December last year; the experience has been challenging considering the fact that i previously worked in a long term care setting. Let me know if you need any more info.
  10. Coler Goldwater Memorial Hospital in Manhattan. More than half of their nurses are foreign sponsored. I'm sure they are still hiring foreign nurses. I know of people who even got in a couple of months ago. You may call the hospital to find out how everything works. Good luck.
  11. The hospital i work at sponsor and hire foreign nurses especially from the philippines from time to time. I actually think the best city to get a job in this country as a foreign nurse is New York. All the best.
  12. I am very sure HHC pays up to 30,000 towards your tuition, books included. You don't have to work for them at all while you are in school but you have to work in any of HHC facility for at least two years after you graduate. You may PM me and i will send you the name and e mail of the person in charge of the program. Good luck.
  13. Hi everyone. I am planning to apply to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern so I would like to know if anybody works there or knows anything about this hospital. Any info about pay, benefits etc will be very much appreciated. Thanks.
  14. I guess they stopped for lunch on their way to work.
