Some hospitals may have enough beds that they have floors dedicated solely to one patient population, such as urology or orthopedics. Others may even have specialized ICUs while some may only have a single ICU. It's very facility dependent.

Large academic hospitals, I would expect to have very specific units like Neurology/Neurosurgery, Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Solid Organ Transplant, Cardiology/Cardiac Surgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonary, GI, Vascular, Renal. Most adult hospitals have Labor and Delivery and Post-Partum. This may all be on the same unit or different units. You're unlikely to find a NICU or a PICU in a small community hospital that doesn't have the resources to deal with critically ill children. In my area, Psych and Rehab are generally separate hospitals.
