Long drive after night shift

I work days now PT.

I am looking to pick up a casual job on the side.

I interviewed and was pretty much offered a casual job. It's 11pm-7am. I could work as few or as many shifts as I want, likely 1 per week.

Anyway, the kicker is the 50 minute commute home in the am. Then I would need to drive one kid to the bus at 8am, then drop the other kid off at school for 0900am (15 min commute each way).

At that point I could sleep till 4pm.

Thoughts?

Bad idea to drive that far after a night?

I did work night before 11-7, 20 min commute and then dropped 2 kids of at 830am at school.

I do that all the time. I work nights 1900-0730 full time and rarely get to bed and asleep before 10am. I usually sleep til 4pm. I guess it just depends on each individual. You could try it and see how it goes. :)

If you get enough sleep before your shift you should be fine. I know night shifters that work a 12 then go to Walmart grocery shopping before going home. I like to crash ASAP when I worked nights, but each person is different. Just be sure to listen to your body. Maybe do a mock trial one night where you stay up and do those things the next day to see how you feel about it.

I have the same commute 3 days a week and its doable! I work 7p to 7a.

I work five 12 hour night shifts in a row then drive 3 hours home once a pay period. Not a problem. I stop once an hour and get out and walk around. The 2 hour stop is at a grocery store and I do the shopping for the week on the way home. However each person is different in what they can adapt to / tolerate. What I do would be highly dangerous for some people. Gthere are statagies you can use. I balence coffee and getting up and moving about. Have been doing this for years without a problem.
