Long distance post RN BScN program

Hi, everyone, I'm from Montreal, I am planning to do by Bac through Internet. Is anyone here who is taking a long distance post RN BScN program? I have a list of school, but I don't know which one is better. Or you have any ideal long distance online nursing school?

Here are the school that I know I can do my Bac.

Athabasca university, University of victoria, St. Francis Xavier University.

Does BN and BScN program are different beside BScN has science courses. Is BScN program a better choice?

Interesting question! Unfortunately, nobody answered. I would like to know for kicks which university offers the best online or distance BSN program also.

I contacted McGill last year to see if they were offering but they said not yet, too bad.

May be someone out there did the distance BSN and can answer you question or... did you figured it out by yourself?:yeah:

All of those universities have very good reputations. I can only speak for Athabasca, as I know some of their students. The program is tough, but seems to be reasonably managed. There is no difference between the BN and BScN other than semantics. It's all about what the university calls the program and their nursing faculty.

I did a post-basic BN through University of Calgary. I found it to be a great program and in my class there were students as far away as Hong Kong.

I did my BN 18 years after my diploma program

Hi Pepperlady,

I would love to do a BN at the U of C, but last time I've checked they didn't run such bridging course anymore.

I am a single mom of a teen, in my 17th year post nursing diploma and feel ready to go back to school even if I'd have to relocate to Edmonton from Calgary. Do you still keep in touch with the nursing faculty from U of C? Are they going to run that bridging program again?

I actually did a BSN program through distance learning that was located in the States and it met Ontario's standards for writing (and subsequently passing) the CRNE. University of Maine at Fort Kent, a bilingual university on the Maine-Quebec border. www.umfk.maine.edu/academics/programs/nur/rnbsn/default.cfm

I had a great experience there. The faculty was great and it was affordable. In addition they have enough Canadian students that they played both countries' national anthems at the graduation ceremony.

Hm, I wasn't aware that UofC no longer had the degree from diploma program, have you checked thier distance education site instead of their faculty site??? Given that many nurses only have an RN diploma I would be really surprised if its not possible to do the BN .

I plan on starting an RN-BSN program this September at Clarion University online. I need to take 26 credits, nine courses. While I haven't done much checking, think this is a great deal!

Clarion University ONLY offers an online completion RN-BSN program (http://www.clarion.edu/7387/). They offer out of state students, 102% tuition. I would not be concerned about the exchange rate if you can get a good deal on the credits you need to complete the program. I sought the minimalist amount of courses I would have to take, to complete the BSN. I think I made a good choice.

Thoughts?
