Welcome to Allnurses.com! :)
I believe 2 years is correct for an ADN or BSN. An ADN program is 2 years, and starts clinicals during the first semester. A BSN doesn't do clinicals until their Jr. year. (...if I'm not mistaken.)
I believe a diploma nurse may be longer. Hopefully someone else will add to this response.

For BSN here it's 2 yrs prereqs then 2 yrs just nursing school.. first nsg semester is 1 day a wk, 2nd semester is 2 days a wk, 3rd is 3, and I'm not sure about the 4th. Days last about 8-12 hrs.
What about an LPN program?
nevermind, I found it :)
lol.....
Many people just weigh the options, and determines what is best for them. Some need to work sooner, some don't want anything other than a BSN....There's all kinds of opinions on why to go to one and not the other, but no one else can make that decision for you.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do! :)
