2015 Lonestar spring hopefuls.

Published

Hi there everyone. I'm one of the 2015 hopefuls for lonestar. Just wondering if anyone has any information on application datelines for 2015 spring. The school sites don't happen to have that info(unless, I am missing something). Any info would be appreciated. Thanks and good luck to everyone.

@dawno: I know!! i'm supper nervous and exited!!:woot: .. I wonder the same?.. I don't think they were probably not much, judging by how many ppl enter this board..

Anytime and @Gabicita, yes I will study extra hard for Nclex plus I am paying to take the Hurst or Kaplan review so I'm sure I will do fine! Thanks!

@ikegrad2002. Are you going for BSN right away or going to find a job first? I've heard it is extremely difficult to land a job for new ADN grads...

@cassybear, I will find a job first but I will still go for my BSN while working. Not difficult at all. Alot of the new nursing grads from Kingwood have already found jobs

@ikegrad2002. It's a good plan! The best of luck!

Thank you for the info about new grads jobs. I was researching a lot lately and get all kinds of results... Most of them are negative... It is frustrating...

No problem and Thanks! Never listen to what people say about what YOU can or can not do! Find things out by doing it and proving them wrong! You will be fine!!!!!! There are plenty of Nursing jobs waiting for us to fill them up!!!!

Congrats ikegrad2002, I'm in my first semester and pulling my hair out already and its only week 3.

@amood06, Thanks hun! You will get through it soon! It was the same way for us all in my class but we made it and you will too!!! What campus are you at?

I'm at Cyfair.

OK, good luck and you made it this far so I know you will do great!!!

Sidenote:You will have to get your BLS... the CPR is not good enough.

The normal schedule for us at North Harris is Lecture Monday and Tuesday from 8:30-10:50. Sometimes a lab that afternoon which you must wear scrubs to. Then either Wednesday or Thursday clinical 6:45-5:00. Then an on campus test every other Friday morning. However these first three weeks they are frontloading a lot of our labs so that we can do more when we start clinical so we have gone to school everyday. Its crazy!!! :) We also just got our reading assignment for our first lecture next week and its 13 chapters!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure you can still apply for the fall semester even if you are an alternate for the spring semester but most likely the spring semester will start before the fall application deadline and they only take alternates up to the start of the semester. If you do get selected as an alternate the way they do it now is they put all of the alternates from all the schools for that application period (so for this one Kingwood and Cyfair) into one list and they are numbered according to highest score. As spots open up for each school they will notify the first alternate on the list. There will be an alternate orientation the is mandatory if you want to be considered for a spot. If you get in at one school you cannot be an alternate for the other school. They just changed this process this last semester. Hope it was all clear.

There will be tons.... there always are. The Lonestar nursing programs are extremely competitive! Don't stress though. Even if you get selected as an alternate a lot of them get calls!
