  1. Just want to say another congratulations to all the new incoming student nurses! My class (kingwood RN C/O2014) will be having our pinning ceremony on December 11, 2014! I am so excited! It has been a tough journey but I did it! Good Luck to you all!
  2. OOOh Let me see if I can remember lol. They went over everything we can expect as a Nursing Student, testing, class work and we had to sign papers I believe. Can't really remember everything : )
  3. I'm sure you have the right thing Christian!
  4. @Christian O, Have you gotten your books/book package for classes yet? If so, you can start there. Most lab values in our Nursing books are in the Appendix in the back of our books. The lab values for me were pretty much by memorization. The more tests you study for, the more you will know them as well. Doesn't hurt to print them now from google and just start going over them from time to time just to get them stuck in your head. You will get them after a while : )
  5. @Christian O, You're not ignorant and that's ok that you do not know but lab values are like references used by Nurses, doctors, etc which helps us interpret test results when a patient have his/her blood drawn. Some lab values are WBC, RBC, BUN, CREATININE, ABG's, PTT, PTT, INR, Hgb, Hct. You can google lab values and I'm sure a lot will pop up : )
  6. @Christian O, ALSO MEDICATIONS!!! REMEMBER AS MANY AS YOU CAN AND WHAT THEY ARE USED FOR!!!!
  7. @Christian O, Get all lab values stuck in your head as much as you can!!!!!
  8. CONGRATS TO EVERYONE WHO WAS ACCEPTED INTO THE NURSING PROGRAM!!! I remember feeling exactly like you all when I received my acceptance letter to Kingwood. Get ready for a interesting ride! Nursing school is like no other but it is so worth it. You may feel extremely overwhelmed in the beginning but soon after you will get adjusted to everything. It is A LOT of hard work, but if I can do it SO CAN YOU! I started in January 2013 and now I am less than 3 months away from my pinning! (SUPER EXCITED) At times you may feel like giving up, but don't! Remember why you applied to Nursing School in the first place. I'm thinking about applying to Kingwood Medical Center, so I may even get to work with some of you during your clinical rotations! Remember to always stay focused and positive. Don't get behind on your assignments, EVER! We do something called PREP U and if y'all have to do them, I recommend doing as many as you can when they are assigned to you. Trust me, it will make your life in Nursing School SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER! I am still here for any questions you may have. I don't mind helping people because I was once where you were and I wish I had someone to answer the million and one questions I had then. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!!! #TEAMRN
  9. @Christian O.....cool! I will be on and off here throughout this last semester, so when It gets close to December I will let you know!!! : ))))
  10. I will be graduating from Kingwood's RN program in December. I will have some study material for sell if anyone is interested!
  11. @lucylusp, the schools do not sell scrubs (well at least Kingwood doesn't). Some of my classmates get our scrubs from scrubs etc and Grey's Anatomy is a good brand!
  12. OK, good luck and you made it this far so I know you will do great!!!
  13. @amood06, Thanks hun! You will get through it soon! It was the same way for us all in my class but we made it and you will too!!! What campus are you at?
  14. No problem and Thanks! Never listen to what people say about what YOU can or can not do! Find things out by doing it and proving them wrong! You will be fine!!!!!! There are plenty of Nursing jobs waiting for us to fill them up!!!!
  15. @cassybear, I will find a job first but I will still go for my BSN while working. Not difficult at all. Alot of the new nursing grads from Kingwood have already found jobs
