@Christian O, Have you gotten your books/book package for classes yet? If so, you can start there. Most lab values in our Nursing books are in the Appendix in the back of our books. The lab values for me were pretty much by memorization. The more tests you study for, the more you will know them as well. Doesn't hurt to print them now from google and just start going over them from time to time just to get them stuck in your head. You will get them after a while : )

@Christian O, You're not ignorant and that's ok that you do not know but lab values are like references used by Nurses, doctors, etc which helps us interpret test results when a patient have his/her blood drawn. Some lab values are WBC, RBC, BUN, CREATININE, ABG's, PTT, PTT, INR, Hgb, Hct. You can google lab values and I'm sure a lot will pop up : )

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE WHO WAS ACCEPTED INTO THE NURSING PROGRAM!!! I remember feeling exactly like you all when I received my acceptance letter to Kingwood. Get ready for a interesting ride! Nursing school is like no other but it is so worth it. You may feel extremely overwhelmed in the beginning but soon after you will get adjusted to everything. It is A LOT of hard work, but if I can do it SO CAN YOU! I started in January 2013 and now I am less than 3 months away from my pinning! (SUPER EXCITED) At times you may feel like giving up, but don't! Remember why you applied to Nursing School in the first place. I'm thinking about applying to Kingwood Medical Center, so I may even get to work with some of you during your clinical rotations! Remember to always stay focused and positive. Don't get behind on your assignments, EVER! We do something called PREP U and if y'all have to do them, I recommend doing as many as you can when they are assigned to you. Trust me, it will make your life in Nursing School SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER! I am still here for any questions you may have. I don't mind helping people because I was once where you were and I wish I had someone to answer the million and one questions I had then. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!!! #TEAMRN

@lucylusp, the schools do not sell scrubs (well at least Kingwood doesn't). Some of my classmates get our scrubs from scrubs etc and Grey's Anatomy is a good brand!

No problem and Thanks! Never listen to what people say about what YOU can or can not do! Find things out by doing it and proving them wrong! You will be fine!!!!!! There are plenty of Nursing jobs waiting for us to fill them up!!!!

@cassybear, I will find a job first but I will still go for my BSN while working. Not difficult at all. Alot of the new nursing grads from Kingwood have already found jobs

Hey y'all! I know I haven't been posting in a while but I have been so busy with my last semester of Nursing school! YAY! Just want to remind you guys to make sure you keep up to date on your immunizations especially for Clinicals because they WILL NOT let you go to the hospitals without them being up to date! For Kingwood, we had to have our BLS, not sure if they just want CPR now. They will tell you EVERYTHING in orientation and when you go, PLEASE be on time. I remember when I first started my first semester at Kingwood and when we had orientation someone showed up late and wasn't allowed in. Not sure if they let them continue in the program. They are very strict when it comes to things like that. Also get your Nursing patches, for your scrubs, as soon as you can and try to buy more than one since Kingwood bookstore runs out of them quick and you must have them on your scrubs when you go to Clinical! I am so excited to be graduating in December. It seems like it was yesterday when I was posting on here about the application process and I was so nervous! I still have my acceptance letter from Kingwood lol! Good Luck again to you all, stay focused and you will do fine! I'm here to answer all questions : )

@derma2016, you have to follow whatever school you are going to plan. You can't pick and choose what classes you want to take once you are accepted (if that's what you mean). Each semester has it's own courses you must take. There is an order of nursing courses you must follow. You can't take more or less of any class once in the nursing program. Whatever schedule they give you, that's what you are stuck with. It can't change. The only thing they MIGHT let you change is a clinical day, only if they can find someone to switch with you, but most times this doesn't even happen. Your degree plan will be only nursing courses. All schools are different so I can't say what your nursing courses will be. Your first semester might not just be "Nursing skills" because that would only be considered your lab class. Usually you have a lab, lecture and clinical. Hopefully I answered some or all of what you were asking me, lol : )

@derma2016, THANKS. Yep I had all my classes I needed when I applied to the program. Any class with RNSG before it can only be taken once you are accepted into the program. Nursing skills was taken once I got into the program.

@christian o, yep chamberlain is extremely expensive! I bought my scrubs close to the time school was starting and we have to wear navy blue scrubs.
-

@gabicita, yes chamberlain is nice! And thanks, I applied to chamberlain around the same time I applied to Kingwood and was accepted to both, so hopefully I wouldn't have too much of a problem being accepted! : )))
