Lonestar Spring 2012 Hopefuls

Published

Anyone applying?

Thehopeful, we have the same score (11.59) and I also applied to cyfair and kingwood. It's nice to know that there is someone else in the same situation as me . I'll be rooting for us both!

@pauseymo12 I am applying to kingwood as my first choice with 11.59....best of luck!

The final verdict........Lone Star will NOT accept Microbiology from UTA. I've done everything I can do to convince the department chair of biology to accept it, but it's a no go. Houston, we have a problem :(

I'm going up there tomorrow to turn in my application anyway. Who knows? Maybe I'll get waitlisted or something.

Thanks to everyone for keeping a positive attitude on my behalf :) I love the way this board sticks together and helps one another.

Katybusymom....I feel so bad for you because of this situation. I'm glad your still putting in your application and holding your head high. Of course we all wish you the best and hope you can make it in as an alternative. Best of luck girl

Katybusymom

GOD bless you! I know you can still make it.

Katybusymom....I am so sick for you, I know you have to be so upset. It sounds like you have a good attitude and I am glad to hear you are going to turn in your application anyway. You never know what could happen. Best of luck to you!

thank you!!

@katybusymom - I would think so long as micro is the only core class you have not finished you should do fine. You should still be at 27 credit hours having all core classes finished and receive the full 4 points. What biol did you take at UTA that LSCS isn't giving you credit for, was is General Microbiology instead of Medical Microbiology?

Oh No Katybusymom!! I feel so bad for you. That sux. It kills me that some of these community colleges that will not accept Texas University classes. I ran into the same problem at Wharton County Junior College. They wouldn't accept a nutrition class that I took at UOP (Univ. of Phoenx). Granted that was an Arizona University, but c'mon, it was nutrition. I feel your pain. There is still hope. Where else are you applying? I'm gonna hope that NO ONE scored perfect on that dumb worksheet!

What's this I hear about an alternate/wait list that everyone is talking about?

@CareAngel - Every year there are a handful for students who score just below the acceptance score. LSC let's them know that should a student who has been accept be unable to meet the requirements for admissions that they would be able to take their spot. I'm not sure exactly how the order works but I would imagine that is based again on your total entrance score.

@Pauseumo12,

Wow! That's good news, I guess.

When I submitted my application to the nursing department, I was informed that the acceptance/denial letters will be mailed out the first week of October. That is only three weeks away. I noticed on the posts for the applicants who applied for Fall 2011, the ones who were placed on the alternate list received their letters about two weeks after the initial acceptance letters went out.

On another note, I applied to the ADN program at Cy-fair for the Fall 2011 program start and was told when I submitted my application in Feb. 2011 that the letters would be mailed out the first week of April 2011. I received my letter on March 30, 2011 telling me that I had not been accepted due to the amount of qualified applicants.

Keep in mind though, I applied while I still had core classes "in-progress," resulting in a very low score less than 9 points. I spoke with an advisor at Cy-fair and she explained to me that they do not consider the "in-progress" courses because students have the option to drop and do so at a fairly high rate.

I am hoping that the letter this time will come out later than sooner, as I have learned sooner means that you just did not make the cut, or at least that was my experience.
