Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!

Published

Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.

I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!

So I just called the Nursing office for Montgomery looks like I am now 11 on the list, and that they are not going to be notifying for the ADN program till the end of next week ... Hang in there guys :) Prayers for everyone waiting ...

waiting is driving me insane.....

I got an email saying Montgomery's orientation for adn is May 5 3-6pm it wasn't an acceptance letter but it was "informational" lol

Coincidence that the email was to 40 people? And they accept 40 don't they? Lol oh well I guess now we can at least plan accordingly so we can be available

I got the same email also! :) I'm happy they finally sent us something even though its not a full acceptance yet. I wonder what they are having so much trouble with.

I received the same email! At least its a little hope! lol!!

Also, I went in and talked to them while on campus yesterday and she said she submitted the list of applicants to the BON (I think to see who has already done a background check) and that it takes 10 days for them to process it, which is why it is taking so long. She also said that she has the emails ready to go, all she has to do is wait for the list back! Soooo I'm pretty sure we all got in!

So I just got fingerprinted today do they said it'll take about 2-3 weeks to get a blue card is that true ?

yes it does!!

My deadline for the VN is April 30 I don't think I'll make it in time :(

you may want to call and talk to someone and let them know that you have started the process. I don't think you should be penalized for that because that was a very quick deadline. You will be ok!!!

Hi, I just found this website and group, I too got accepted at North Harris (11.1). I was reading the previous messages to get caught up and noticed that some people started the process for the background check (fingerprinting). I thought I would let you know that I called the nursing department earlier this week and to ask if I could/should start the background now and she told me that unless I needed to submit a D.O. that I should NOT start/do anything until I receive the next email with more information (as stated in the acceptance letter). She said that I should only do the items that all the information was given for and not those that state more information will be sent so I do it correctly (they way they want it done.

I hope this helps and I will be at the May 15th orientation.
