Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!

Published

Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.

I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!

Hi future nurses! Has anybody started an online group for cyfair? :)

Let me know your real name and I will add you!

There are a lot of people with that name! Look for me. Annie bourque. My pic is of myself and my husband at our wedding

Im a bit confused maybe you can help me sparkles. I received an MIP about 8 years ago do I still have to submit a DO???

Amberly us right, definitely call the BON to make sure. I was told last year when I did mine that traffic tickets they don't care about unless arrested for them. Everything else they want to know about. Things change yearly so call or email them just to be sure if you have any doubt. Good luck!

Ayala3 - Not to worry you or anything, but get on this BON Declaratory Order, like TOMORROW!!! It will pop up on your background check and then your just asking for trouble from the nursing program. You either have to turn in a blue card (which is an "all clear" type of check) OR a declaratory order if you have ANY previous arrests. The process can take up to ONE year if they feel it necessary to look further into your arrest. My D.O. (for a wrong place wrong time arrest - which my charges were dropped IMMEDIATELY) took a few months because my finger prints were sent to the wrong place and blah blah blah. Bottom line is, you should have taken care of this already. The BON doesn't play around with criminal records of any sort because peoples lives are literally in your hands. So please please start the process RIGHT NOW!

What if I wasnt arrested. Do I still have to? :/

But I guess ill go ahead and do it to be on the safe side.

I am very nervous that mine will not be done on time. As soon as I get my court papers I am sending it in. If it is anything other than a driving ticket, I would.

ayala3 - I THINK it is anything other than a traffic ticket you have to report, but not 100% sure. Call the BON tomorrow. I will warn you, it takes FOREVER to get someone on the phone but just keep hanging on the line, don't hang up! Someone will eventually answer!

Also, you can leave a message. My blue card was lost in the mail, and they called me back that same day.

Does anyone have any info or know anyone who has done this? I just want to know a time frame. I got a pretty quick response with email, ans speaking to someone on the phone!
