Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.
I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!
Is anyone else looking into buying nursing shoes? Danskos to be exact. I don't own a good pair of tennis shoes (i know sad lol) also I'm debating on a backpack or something rolling. Just something to think about. With the lvn program there are sooo many textbooks so I imagine it will be the same with the rn program if not more.
I got got a pair of Klogs yesterday, very similar to dansko. And they were very comfy!
and I plan on getting a rolling backpack!
Just a word of advice for anyone who does need to send a declaratory order to the BON. Do this as soon as possible! It took forever to find my record and six weeks to receive my " all clear" letter from the BON. I only had a forgotten traffic violation I was arrested for 20 years ago. Not trying to freak anyone out but if I had been more familiar with the process, or asked more questions on this forum I would be halfway through nursing school by now. So ask questions! If someone here cant help you we can find the info for you!If you do not need to submit a declaratory order then, as others have stated, you must wait until you receive instructions to do your background check. If you've submitted a DO and already received a letter stating you've passed the Board review, then you may receive your blue card soon after your acceptance letter into the program and won't have to repeat the background check.
Oh... and N.H told me that if we didn't receive a letter by mid April to call! I'm sure the same would apply to the other campuses as well!
Im a bit confused maybe you can help me sparkles. I received an MIP about 8 years ago do I still have to submit a DO???
Ayala3 I'm in the process of doing this. I have called the BON and she said any ticket, arrest or conviction you need to do a D.O. Both of my charges were dismissed and not supposed to be on my record but she says if I try to do a background and it does come up and I don't have a D.O. it would be something of a non - disclosure and would be sent to another office with a minimum of a 4 month wait. So it is best just to do a D.O. and disclose everything.

Yes I have created mine, I got accepted to North Harris and on the bottom of the acceptance letter it says not to attempt to trn anything in until after orientation. But I did get an account last semester for Cy-Fair and they provided me with a specific number to enter in. Did they already give you guys that number?
