Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!

Published

Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.

I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!

Before anyone freaks out about a muscle attachment question I should clarify. It was a very general question with a clear clue such as tibialis anterior and where does it attach such as lower limbs. It wasn't asking for specific insertion point s! :-)!

Congrats sparkles! I bet you are glad it's over with lol idk why but my a&p section was the hardest of all my sections. And that's because I got an A in both a&p 1 and 2. I remember they asked something about the sodium potassium pump but honestly I can't remember what else.

Hey for those of y'all that are going to the orientation next week do we need to bring anything? Paperwork? Proof of fingerprinting? Please let me know...thanks!!

SparklesMedic,

SparklesMedic,

Thanks so much for the extra information! The A&P sounds very basic. That's an easy question. Now, I see why they gave that Hesi Hint in the book. I should be fine with my A&P. I did well in A&P, so I think that will be my strong point. I probably will get A&P out of the way first--need some encouragement before I take on the rest of the exam. Then, reading before I get too tired. I'll tackle math in the middle. Lastly, finish up with the vocabulary/grammar. That is the game play. Thanks again, you have been a great source of encouragement!

I am so glad its over with! I had A's in A&P too but I think I missed the potassium pump question as well, lol!

You are so welcome Nightingale! Sounds like you have a good plan. Failure to plan is planning to fail! I know you'll kick HESI tail!

Orientation done! I'm more stressed out now than i was before lol. To all who went I was the one with pink hair ;) I can't believe we register for classes next week?!

yes I'm even more nervous than before and I'm just an alternate...I pretty much have everything completed so that's a relief...praying that I get a call soon though. Spring housewife where did you sit?!? I was in the front...black chick blue shirt lol

I was sitting in the middle of about the fourth row. My husband came with and he was in a blue shirt. It's nice to have our book list so I can start pricing them. I have my physical Wednesday and then I'll have everything complete. My fingers are crossed in hopes that someone drops and you get in!

YES!!! I've priced books already! I have everything done except for shots!!! ?

I'm so excited for you guys! Nightingale360 and kenken i think are taking the HESI today. Good luck! I'm on my way to N.H. in a few to drop my app. Is it April yet? Lol!

Hey ya'll,

BaBam! Just took the Hesi. Put me down for a 11.52 for the ADN, traditional program. I will select Tomball as my first choice, and North Harris as my second choice. I can't believe my worst subject, Math, ended up being my highest score. I really focused my attention on the conversions, and it paid off. The reading section was hard for me because I couldn't see it. I asked if they could make the screen bigger, but they could not. It looks like I need a new eye prescription. I am so glad that is over!
